First of all, the programme scheduled at 11 AM started only 11.45, thanks to the dance programme which extended 45 minutesl. "Enna thavam" dance was witnessed by Vijay Siva sitting among the audience drinking a strong Kapi (?). Concert tconcluded at 1.15 PM. During the Concert, the Principal's speech took 15 minutes. He also asked Mannargudi Easwaran (Mridangam for Vijay siva) to have a few words for the college students. Of course, Thani too with Kanjira and Morsingh......

Honestly, there was no big review since he rended few kiritis viz.,

Kadaikkan -Begada- PS (Neraval in "Tanjam Enbore....Sarva Bhagyamum Undakkukm")
Parimana Ranganatham - Hamir Kalyani- D- (R)
Teliyaledu-Denuka-T
Kambodhi- Main followed by Tiruvotriyur Tevaram, (I asked Sriramkumar the origin of the kriti)
Enraikku siva- Mukhari - Neelakanta Dikshitar (?)
Tiruppugazh
Mangalam

I went with lot of expectations since it was the first concert of Vijay siva for this season. He had given Kambodhi, in a capsule form. Still, it was excellant. Begada-Swaram was brilliant.

He gave everything in each raga within the short span of time. Good one.

Music College is conferring "Kalai NiRai MaamaNi" award for 15 stalwarts. Among them are Smt.Gayathri Girish, Dr.Ramani, Mannargudi Easwaran, Sri. Sikkil Bhaskaran etc.,. I saw the name of Smt Shoba Chandrasekhar (I think she is Actor Vijay's mother). Do not understand why she is in the list ?

I thought Kadaikkan Vaithennai in Begada was by Ramaswami Sivan and not PS. Can someone throw light on this?

I stand corrected Lakshman and S.rasika. I was also surprised to see that Charanam of that Begada song, I have not heard of. The acoustics were not good. Mridangam is crushing his voice. I recorded this in my MP3 and on hearing it again, it sounds clearly "Sarva Bhagyamum Undakkum"..... I will upload only that song, if you agree.

He will be performing in Sastri Hall on 14th Dec. I will ask him and come back to you..
