about the concert: I have to say 'thus spake the vidwath'. NSG was in top form and managed to display superior talent despite the limitations of his voice. nothing deterred him in giving a fine concert. he added his kalpana swaras in bhairavi and gave electric kalpana swara in karpagame (until karpagame was sprinkling the swaras like the 'kalasam' during diwali)
vathapi too had electric kalpana swara and bilahari alapana neraval and kalpanaswara were comparable only to the best available in the industry today. he reminds me many times of MMI though the patterns are different.
MAS gave excellent subdued support; it was low in key but high in performance. UKS was also playing with all nuances without sinking the singer's voice. during thani he became very aggressive probably because of his impatience to the repetition of same korvais from kanjira but used it to his advantage for dispalying his mastery and skill.
the concert was soul searching. i remember my review here about NSG's concert last season. i have to revise my views now thanks to NSG.
NSG has started his second innings.
