Ravikiran’s concert at Naadabrahmam was extraordinary. Performing for a packed audience who were eager to listen to the Ravikiran-Trichy Shankaran combination, the duo treated them to a delectable feast of chaste and sublime music.
Every phrase from Ravikiran’s chitravina and every response from Shri Shankaran’s mridangam were magical and the audience was spellbound in the concert that lasted close to 3 hours. rama nee samanamevaro (kharaharapriya), ananda natana prakasham and the saveri RTP were the highlights of the concert.
Be it neraval, kalpana swarams in paluku paluku (rama nee samana), ananda natana prakasham (sangeeta) starting in ateeta eduppu or raga alapanas in kedaram, saveri, Shri Ravikiran’s music was a class apart and Shri Trichy Shankaran’s impromptu decision to play the tani avartanam in mishra chapu (ananda natana) turned out to be a performance-par-excellence. Akkarai Shubhalakshmi and E M S also added value to the concert through their impeccable support (though Shri E M S could have checked his ghatam’s pitch before the concert)
On the whole, the concert was an unforgettable experience for every rasika.
