As I entered the rare krithi of mAnambuchAvadi venkatasubbaiyer was wrapping(not too sure if its kEdAragowlai) with sanjay announcing the composer name .
Whenever you are late and caught in a traffic jam , the best way to refresh is to have a kApi . Incidentally the carnAtic alApanai of kApi had all the delicacy of a real coffee ,an outstanding one it was had lot of manOdharma alApanai flavour in it . The krithi in kApi was a rare vihAra mAnasa by swathi was just very good , certainly the alApanai excellence did not exist ,perhaps more in line with the real time coffee where the first half is usually more appealing

I guess there is one krithi in a rAga where almost all musicians singin the same standard way no way to distinguish whether it is good, excellent or average . That was vararAga laya in senchu kAmbOdhi, its only purpose is to indicate that the next krithi is going to be main.
The suddasAveri was very good to excellent , I never mapped it from ArAbi to suddasAveri which I usually do , I got this rAga very early onwards. Sanjay does have lung power strength and that had a positive effect for the swaras .
The request from the audience made sanjay sing the bhOgeendra sAyinam .The alApanai in kuntalavarAli was very good and matched the krithi rendition .The swaras in kuntalavarAli were too short and average, perhaps he could have better dropped it altogether.Sanjay's viruththam was excellent particularly the AbhEri ??(may be bhimplAs) and had a good karpagamE finish.
Shri nAgai played very good , but somewhere I usually expect a higher purity of nAdham in his violin which I did not get it . Both the percussionist played a very good tani , perhaps maybe they could have played it little shorter.
At times when Sanjay sings with more lungpower, I did notice there is sudden up and down amplitude in his delivery. It would be nice if Sanjay tries to smoothen those sudden jerks.
When I was almost a pauper having a poori masAlA at the end of the concert , I surprisingly noticed our queen behind me having an iDLi. I leave it to the queen to narrate my about to be pauper story.
Over all a very good to excellent concert.
