Uhhh... May have to head North after that early-morning housewarmng, on family business.
Maybe I should never have taken that job as my wife's driver
!
(very unfair comment, of course: she would be the first to pressurise me to meet with you guys, rather than take her, but I'm not sure conscience allows)

Boy ! What a meeting it was.
To start with , we had an outstanding Concert by Jeyasree-Jeyaraj, accompanied by Vellore Ramabhdran.
Post concert, We had a short meeting at the venue attended by Arasi, Rajani,Arunk, Mrs and Mr Govindan,Mrs and Mr Udayshankar, rajumds, rajesh, ram , sabala, ignoramus, Prashanth and his Dad, Vainika, Vijay-
and then we broke up to listen to a fine mukhari by Prasanna Venkatraman , followed by a great lunch-courtesy Vijay.
A great Morning and hope to ctach up again with everybody next week.
Will try and organise a Concert before Arunk gets back to the US- most probably Jan 6th Sunday.

I'm very sorry I missed. Things started going wrong on Friday, when a mild stomach bug caused me to spend much of the day asleep (there are far worse things that a stomach bug can do). That meant by Saturday night , I had sleep surplus, and had not slept much before driving to Anna Nagar.
Could have made it by the end of the concert too. But really felt the need to just get home.
Friday was our wedding anniversary: so double wash-out this weekend. Disappointment all round.
I hope there's pics to come?

Sorry I missed the other rasikas.org luminaries who joined the meetup. I had to rush to another engagement before Prasanna's concert since my Dad was leaving Chennai early in the morning and had to catch up on social visits. It was great to meet ram, arunk, Vijay, sbala, ignoramus and Sathej during this trip and renew acquaintances with the one and only Coolkarniji.
Of course, a special word must go to the Queen herself. As I was gathering my wits about me [and massaging my aching neck after much enthusiastic head-nodding] after Nedunuri Sir's concert, I was greeted with a dazzling smile - before I could ask, I knew. Sure enough, it was the one and only Arasi!

It was really nice to have been able to reconnect with familiar faces, names
and/or IDs. I have placed a tiny video clip of the concert in the review section.
We missed hanging out with the artistes such as Jeyaraaj, Jaysri and
Ramnath post-concert.

Hi all! I am a new member here & am here for the love of music. I was goin through your conversations and tehy're so exciting! This is exactly what I want to do- be lost in music all the time!!! It's so nice to see a community formed that talks only music & more music.
Well, I am not anywhere close to you guys.....I am not good at carnatic music!:-(....but definitely love listening to it. I lovemusc in general.
Actually since my childhood my mom & my grandmom have been teaching me a lot of bhajans which they composed. That's how I really got interested in music &started learning more bhajans, and nething that appealed to my vocal chords! i still learn frm my mom as & when she composes a new one.
And the violin! this is one sweet lil thing that has always fascinated me. I've always loved & will forever love this dainty four stringed instrument. Violin, I feel has an 'out of the world appeal to it, be it western or carnatic. I keep listening to a lot of it.
Couple years ago i started composing my own tunes for the violin. Tunes that came from myheart. I cant put them under any particular form...simply because they dont belong to any & also because I cant write a hard core carnatic or western piece!!.....
I tried to find people who could actually play my tunes but failed miserably! That's when I decided to learn!!! I am now learning carnatic violin frm sri.sivasubramaniam, here in bangalore. I am enjoying learning carnatic music ! I can actually talk a lil about terms like tala, jantai varisai .....It's fun ...but swear on God...as delicate as it looks ,violin eats up all my energy & is very demanding!!
My dream's to learn from Embar Kannan. He's been my fav violinist after kunnakudiji. I really wish I cud learn frm Kannanji. looks like it's not possible due to geographical reasons! Just hope someday I wud be able to !! I atleast want to see him live on stage & get his autograph!
Oh God! have i written a lot? sorry , didnt mean to bore you guys......just wanted to be a part of your group.....it's really nice to be so close to music as to feel it all the time:-)
Cheers!!

There are various phases to CM learning, especially Violin.
A) The vegetable vendor does not visit your street anymore
B) Your Bro,Sis,Mom&Dad gingerly walk into the house hoping practise had ended
C) Even Debtors stay away....
After you get better
D) People in the next streets have to wait for the vegetable vendor to show up
E) Your Bro, Sis, Mom&Dad do not want to leave the house when you practise
F) The debtor forgives the debt
What phase are you in?

Actually my neigbors complain that they dont find the vegetable vendor in our street nemore......i guess they failed to notice him being tied to a tree in our street! i tied him there when he tried to run away!............not gonna let him go until he says 'dont drive me away, i'll give u vegetables for free'!!!
Well.....i can just about make some sense out of the strings!!!.....will work hard:-)

Vainika had also propsoed a jam session on 30th. Hope our resident amateur (as of now) mrudangam and kanjira vidwans will also participate! I am prepared to present a unique instrument called "air violin" which was demonstrated to fellow rasikas outside meenambika's last Sunday. 25th sounds good too...more the merrier as has often been said on this thread!
