I was late and only heard the (excellent) Thodi. Meanwhile here are the photos of the rasikas get together after the concert:

The concert was excellent. Even before I opened the door (arrived a couple of mins late), I could hear the sweet melodious sound playing viribONi - and immediately sensed that I was in for real treat. The stage backdrop read "nAda inbam" and that is what I experienced - inbam from the sweet nAdam of the two vInas. Jayashree and Jayaraj's style of playing was so meditative, and soulful. The unison between the two vinas was perfect.
I dont remember the exact order of the songs (did not jot it down then) but here it goes:
viribONi - bhairavi - S
brOcEvArevarE - SrIranjani - R
annapUrNe - Sama
Krithi in santAnamanjari (sucharitra), I am presuming it is a dikshitar krithi - R
AkshayalingavibhO - SankarAbharaNam - RNST
baNTurIti - hamsanAdam (? - i wasnt in during this and I hear some mention that they played)
RTP in tODi
??
vandE mAtaram

All the alapanas were exquisitely delivered. I just love the way the gamakas come out on the vIna - both the traditional one as well as the Radel ones used here. Always reminds me that when it comes to CM, vIna is the king/queen/emperor/emperess. :)

Of course the meet up following the concert was a delicious, sumptuous dessert. So many folks whose names can now be associated with faces. It was nice to "hop over" to MFAC, catch a mukhAri and then eat South Indian meals on a plantain leaf at the MFAC canteen, over a chat.

There was a tAnam rAgamAliga alternatively played by jayashree and jeyarAj in tOdi ,sahAnA, bilahari, behAg and dEsh??? too , the last no before vandemAtaram(also in dEsh??) was MD's vishwanAthena in samAntA . Overall a very good concert ,particularly liked the tAnam in sahAnA and dEsh??. The tOdi pallavi was a chengelpet shri ranganAthan's pallavi on Lord murugA

There is a wonderful (delicious :) collection of pictures by Vijay our designated photographar. It is now upto one of you to provide the audio too! It appears no 'payasam' was served since you guys were satiated with the sweetness oozing from the veeNa.

I woudl love to hear the taanam ragamalika!

wow! A double vivAdi concert with santAna manjari, and sAmanta :)

CML,
All the kuchEri hopping meant stopping at the hotel only for a few hours each day--with a laptop but no connection ! I couldn't get to the forum for more than a few minutes when I wrote a few lines about the brilliant performance of Nedunuri.
CML, You were missed, along with others.
Ravi,
I had imagined Rajani as a professor. She is a young thing! She specially asked about you (our translation-connection).
I missed the lunch since I had to hurry to meet someone after that very impressive mukhari by Prasanna.
If I thought we were a great bunch of buddies in rasanA, meeting some of them made me realize that we are united more in music. It erases age, ethnicity and the rest (Nick, we missed you). It is a pity I won't be able to make it to the Christmas Day meet since there are two concerts that day--of Jayalakshmi Santhanam at Bharath Kalachar and of Sumitra Nitin at the MA. I heard that they are both going to sing my songs.
I reached the concert midway, and what a prelude to the joyous meeting! Our collective enthusiasm stayed serene because the playing of J&J was such. The music flowed out of their vINAs like a winding river, spelling out bliss. They both looked a picture of such harmony and so was their sweet music. What a surprise to see Ramabhadran there! I had met him the lobby of the MA and didn't realize he was going to accompny J&J! His fine playing suited them perfectly.
My only regret was that we did not have enough time to have a chat on a one ton one basis.
Would have liked to have spent more time with Govindan and his wife. More of an enlightening chat with Arun and so on...

Ram,
Saw you again this morning on stage all rapt, except for running an errand and helping UKS at Srikantan's concert. I bet Cool and others were there as well. After the 'youngest' senior's concert, the evening came to an end with the blissful concert of NSG. Bet several of you were there at the Academy this day...

We all live by memories! Golden memories! It is nice to know that we share a space in so many hearts! Have a good time and when you are back and at leisure share those memories with us. Also look forward to hearing your songs being sung vicariously!
