Despite the rather heavy downpour , TM Krishna gave an outstanding concert .The concert was delayed by ~15 mins. due to heavy rains which lashed Chennai today in the evening.

At the beginning TMK gestured everyone to come and sit forward since this was a sparse crowd in a big hall - pandal The rain was making a deafening noise,

He started with Akshaya Linga Vibho the MD krithi with brisk neraval and swarams - which set the tone amidst the rain noise. It was so noisy ( the stage roof was asbestos) and KVP signalled more than once that he could not hear anything except the rain. .

TMK then sang anandamruthavarshini another MD krithi with chittaswarams. A brief sketch of garuddhwani and an MV krithi followed . (did not get the name)

A good alapana of Saveri followed by SS's sankari sankuru,,, Then followed the main raga of the evening Kiravani and the T krithi Kaligiyunte. Very good neraval at Baguga... followed by a full avarthana of vilambha kala swarams were the highlights of this krithi.

Post Tani TMK sang Nattaikurinji RTP - RGM swarams in vasantha, lalitha , next 2 do not remember, udayaravi chandrika, I had to leave after this . Someone can post the complete set list inclusing the post RTP tukkadas.

The way in which TMK sang the part of his concert amidst deafening rain noise and kept on supporting and motivating the accompaniments is commendable. Also a "full" concert inspite of the small crowd.

Just one small aspect - TMK should be a little careful while singing thanam - not letting it sound like "d a ga nu m" I distinctly got this feeling today couple of times when he was singing thanam, I am not an expert - may be I am wrong..

My first review - well second one after TNS. Apologies for errors and corrections welcome.

Did he sing "salilam varshaya varshaya varshaya" or "salilam sthambaya sthambaya sthambaya"?

If the latter, did the rain stop after that? =)

ya as venkat said it was a thoroughly enjoyable concert...... but the real thing was that he did not let his quality of the concert come down because there were only 50 odd rasikas.... hats off to krishna.... as i had cut my college and came all d way from tambaram to attend krishna with kvp and really he didnot dissappoint anyone .... be it saveri or kirvani or nattakurunji... he simply showed y he is the best in business

I think he probably would have rendered "dEvi kamalAlayE" in garuDhadvani, which is a composition of vAsudEvAccArya.
