There appears to have been a deliberate effort on the part o Gayathri to evolve her own style with a softened voice backed by the rich experience she has attained from two great Gurus and the result is good music to the ears of discerning rasikas.
While Bhairavi kriti was handled with a deeper sense of understanding the text, the kriti and the raga elaboration preceding that sent the audience to a meditative mood. As a contrast to Bhairavi and true to her tutelage, she rendered the kriti in Niroshta by Muthiah Bhagavathar neatly, before she took Ragam Tanam Pallavi. The RTP was in four ragas, a favourite among rasikas of S.Kalyanaraman. The way she dovetailed ragas with sensitivity proved that she has absorbed all the finer aspects of this Pallavi as rendered by Kalyanaraman. Each movement of ragas came through well thought swara passages and stood for their authenticity.
The concert was noteworthy for the balanced violin support by Akkarai Subbalakshmi and the way she faced the challenges of Pallavi. The concert was also noteworthy from the point of view of what a team work with proper understanding of each one’s role in a concert, could achieve.
There seems to be something wrong with the audio system at the hall. The voice of the vocalists whom I heard in this hall is different from the one I heard of the same artists elsewhere

The Pallavi line was "Ranjani Niranjani Bhaktha Manoranjani Rasika Janaranjani Nal Varam Arulvai Shriranjani" set to Khanda Matya Talam.
All Ragams were sung in fair detail. The Tanam was rendered in all 4 Ragams, in turns, one Ragam each alternately by vocalist and violinist. Finally, a sort of summary was rendered for the Tanam by the vocalist with succesive phrases in each of the four Ragams. Neraval and Swarams for the Pallavi were done in all Ragams at respective Eduppus followed by Ragamalika Swarams. Trikalam and Tisram were also done.
Overall, a nice execution of a novel RTP. Btw, I also heard a rendition of an RTP in Amrithavarshini and Andolika set to Tisra Jhampai (Misra Nadai) (if I remember correctly) earlier in the season at Vani Mahal by the same artiste.
