What a great concert it was. Words fail me to describe any aspect of this concert
The feelings it generated has to be felt and experienced. Those who had the opprtunity to be present at the concert were all overwhelmed, is what I could witness at the end of the concert

And of course Raju Vedala in Todi preceded by a crisp raga alapanai...I thought the last piece was Nagumomu GalavAni in the customary madhyamavati.

His frequent comments in between the singing added a lot of interest to the overall performance. He mentioned that Dhanyasi was a morning raga after finishing Meenalochana; told us about Mayuram Vedanayakam Pillai, how he is from a different religion, why he was singing his song (chittam eppadio in pharaz) on that day (Christmas!), and different meanings of the word "karthar"! And how he responded to a listener's request to sing Maal Maruga - even though he had forgotten the song - but once he was joined by someone (an erstwhile shishya of TSI?) on stage to sing, how he added more sangatis and sang along! At one point he said I am singing "periyavAL's" sangeetam (referring to Sadaasiva brahmendra kritis he sang) and "you are asking me to go to the aDi maTTam" or some thing equivalent... and he mentioned with a sigh how peelu is corrupted into kaapi by the modern era performers... a very entertaining yet educative experience indeed.

excellent performance, pure classical, vintage, carnaaaatic stuff ,EXCEPT PEELU ,at this age and physical disabilities. . very pure vegetarian, thanjavur madi samayal,. since sridhar has elaborately stated what all I wanted to convey, his secularism etc, I am not repeating ,His advice as to how madhyamavati should be sung and should not be sung is worth mentioning . I wish to add that on 26th evening, kartik fine arts ,annanagar, honoured him and MSANANTARAMANfor THEIRoutstanding contibution to carnatic music with a ponnadai and purse in an event , PRESIDED OVER BY the hon, central minister SRI GKVASAN .I AM SORRY , i could not get introduced to forum members, sridhar, rangaraian and others who were present i met only vijay.whom Ihave seen inan earlier snap .I WAS SITTING IN THE 2ND ROW FROM LAST ,WEARING A DARK RED SHIRT WITH A WALKING STICK gobilalitha
