A lec dem on the above subject was by DR Radha venkatachalam of newdelhi a desciple of pallavi subramaniam [TRS] .The subject was dealt nicely with dem of pallavis in more than 15 types in different talas. Some of the points noted are given below.
1 RTP was started only during 17th/ 18th century
2 The duration of RTP was 5 to 6 hrs in earlier time
3 Parvathi lochanan was the biggest pallavi running into one complete page with notation.
4. Niraval in 8 and 4 kalai was a testing exercise for musicians and hence 2 kalai only at present practised
5 Alathoor brothers gave a new dimension to pallavi singing
6 Swarakshara pallavi not that much popular
7 Raga mudhirai pallavi is very popular nowadays.
8 Pallavi singing will vary suiting different types of ragas viz sampoornam, vivadhi, janya etc.
9 Avadhana pallavi not very popular nowadays
10 Pallavi shd be with words suitable for niraval
TKG and TRS were the only two stalwarts present for this progm. Around 35 rasikas were there at the mini hall since Dr. NR's flute concert was on at the main hall at the same time. In general the progm was quite interesting and educative.

1. Yes. It is the sahitya of a pallavi which is considered to be the longest.
2. Avadhana pallavi is sung with different thalas using limbs, neck , feet, thighs etc simultaneously.
3 [a] Alathoor's time management of R,T,P, N and S
Nada pallavi --single avarthana swara pattern
The above note is out of my poor memory.
