tmk was totally in his elemnts right from the word go.... the main was ninne nammiti (simmendra madhyamam) and oh god how it was ...it was one of those concerts which dont happen every other day... the alapana was simply outstanding and some sancharas he sang were hard to believe... it was a chanceless one... he touched the sa in the upper octave and did spend some considerable amount of time doin sancharas in that part ie from higher pa to sa... and it was a simply great to hear and neraval and swaras also had krishna s stamp written all over it... he started with janaki ramana ( suddha seemandini) and then there was kaana kan koti... he jus continued from where he left at music academy and swaras he sang were beautiful... and then sub main karaharapriya( janaki pathe)...again here the raga rendition was so pleasing to the large crowd that was present there... then it was a quick abhogi followed by the sensational item of the evening or even of the season...there was a short thani as the concert had bvegun an hour late ... finally there was a nattakurunji and mani rangu( mamava0...
and in the end it was yet another concert to prove he is the real superstar...

I personally felt he was slightly off his best form at rasika fine arts! may be it was just me, what with the uncomfortable plastic chairs and the elements (it was always threatening to rain & I was in an open air rear row ) all conspiring to reduce my concentration, perhaps! he also sounded a little unhappy about the 50 minute delayed start...
I went to my 3rd TMK concert of the season at Nungambaakkam Cultural today...and he did not disappoint at all
- opened with a sweet kEdAram (Ananda naTana prakAsam), went onto sing a detailed asAvEri (lEkana ninnu), a very elaborate hamsadhwani as the main piece (vAtApi) and rounded off with several sweetly rendered shorter pieces: sAma (varuvArO varam taruvArO), bAgEsri (sAgara sayana vibho)...
i hope to call it a season with a 4th TMK concert on the 13th at Mudhra - a 4 hour concert at that!! can't wait for next sunday!
