A very nice concert. The AlApanais were all done very beautifully. It was nice to hear explorations of rAgam like nArAyaNagauLa and candra jyOti. The kriti selection was a little offbeat and they were all rendered well. The svarams were all good and had nice kOrvais. The pallavi was rendered beautifully with trikAlam and anulOmam. The accompanists were good also.

Though I have not attended the concert, my idea on the pallavi with swarakshara goes like this.

/5 O O
; ; nee ; , pa da ma paa ; , ga ni da / paa ; ; pa da / ni Saa Ree ni da ma //
Nee pa da mu lE ga ti ya nee nam - mi thi sri ra - ma

pa ga ma pa
chan - drA -

Hi bharath,

Are you an IITM student/faculty. Is this possible to attend Saarang 2008 for a non IITan like me. I am keen on light music contests & choreonite and the classical evening (ticketed show).

moorthy, Raghul is a young guy in his 20s. He is a disciple of Sangeetha Kalanidhi M Chandrasekharan and accompanies afternoon concerts. He is a member here too.

rajaglan, you can come and attend the shows when u buy the tickets. tickets will be available soon in the city. If not, mail me offline, i can find out when and where tickets will be available. the Classical night is going to have Sri VVS play and would be free i think.

Dear Raghul,

Thanks for the response. I was waiting for your comments on my understanding & notation of the pallavi above. I hope, you might have made the aridi at nammi ti...

dear karnaticfan,
that was a worthwhile guess after all...
a pallavi does not have a set pattern( that is to say it does not a have a specific tune)
so ur pallavi is as good as mine( actually it is not mine. it is a very old pallavi and already sung by voleti and nedunuri mama.)
as far as ur notation of the pallavi is concerned i might be daring enough to say that it is very good and i might use the tune to sing the pallavi in ur tune when gven an opportunity..:) meanwhile..the ardhi was at nammiti...cheers

This above Pallavi was sung togather by Nedunuri Guru gaaru and S.Balasubrahmania Sharma garu (an opthalmically handicapped) during late fifties in the AIR vijayawada .The ragam set to this pallavi was K.H.Priya. Kanda jathi thriputsa talam.
What a memorable Pallavi it is. KARNATICFAN SIR , HAS to be thanked profusely for bringing back to our memories yet another masterpiece.
