Heard once.Without going to the notation I can find the Raga is well established in the Sahithya Akilandeshwari &Jothiswarupini. Any link of Kotiswara Iyer&Dikshidhar and the like?.I have heard Madurai Somu handling this Raga quite often.THQ Mr.Ramaraj for the efforts.

jyOtisvarUpiNi is the 68th mELa

The starting words are,"jyOtisvarUpiNi uyar simhavAhini.." kOTIShvara aiyyer's composition is "gAnAmudapAnam," a Sanjay staple. "rAmE bhArata pAlita" of MD is rarely heard: http://www.sangeethapriya.org/~svasu/00 ... %20Chakra/.
I think D paTTammAl, Dr BM bAlamuraLikr.shNA and ashOk mAdhav have also composed in this rAga.

Interestingly, TKG has set a ShlOkA into a varNam in a rAga called "OmkArasvarUpiNi." Not sure whether this has anything to do with the rAga in discussion.

GAnAmudha pAnam (Kotiswara Iyer), Jyothiswaroopini (Periyaswami Thooran), RAme Bharatha & Paranjyotishmathi PArvathi (Dikshitar), Sri Gayathri (Dr BMK) are the ones I can remember offhand. Mysore vasudevachar has also composed in this raga & Tyagaraja is said to have caused the lamps in a certain king's court to light up by the rendition of this raga though no kirtana sahitya in this raga by him is available with us today. A truly enchanting raga-would love to hear a full pallavi in it!

I hear that it has been sung. If so, I hope it would be repeated by the artiste soon so that we can hear it too!
Dr. M, nice to hear from you, and hear the story about tyAgarAja. A parallel to tAnsEn's dIpak...
