A most enjoyable concert with a very nice selection and exuberant AlApanAs in kAntAmaNi and bhairavi. The slOkam in kApi rendered by Sri Sreeramaprasad was simply outstanding. The brothers sang very well and maintained their composure despite balky miking and amplification.

The accompanying artistes were excellent - Sri Ajith Kumar's kAntAmaNi essay and swara replies were very crisp. Sri Jayakrishnan and Sri Radhakrishnan played with gusto and verve.

I'm typing the list from memory, so kindly excuse and correct any errors.

How was the sound system and where was the concert held. The last time I attended a concert they had it on the first floor. It was a jalatarangam concert. The artist in her early 80's performed awesome but could not be heard due to poor miking and serious external disturbances. Please tell me that was not the case.

There is an Auditorium just in front of the Vashi (Navi Mumbai) bus stand. Normally all Marathi functions are being held there. I hope this programme is not there in that hall (or is !). I do not understand why artists come to Mumbai and perform in BARC, Chembur, Ghatkopar and shanmuganadha does not go to Vashi.

I always like Malladi because of the debth of their kriti selection. Be it Bharavi or Ritigowla they own it on that day. Thanks for the review.

Yes Grsastrigal there is an auditorium opposite bus stand and it is the Vishnu Das Bhave Auditorium. To my knowledge Vashi Tamil Sangam had organised Sudha Ragunathan's concert there in September. I have been there to attend theatre performances, the acoustics is ok. Well i think Navi Mumbai is definately catching up with concerts. But i think Shanmukhananda and BARC have been here for many years. Just like artist sing in CFAS and other places like Dombivili, i think they will start coming there too.. I think during Navaratri, ten day festival was conducted at the Kamakshi temple in Nerul.

Hello All Mumbaikars,

A monthly list of concerts (Hindustani and Carnatic) is hosted at http://www.sudeepaudio.com/concerts.htm. Anyone who knows of concerts do mail them to Kishor Merchant who compiles the list.

Hope this helps,

Aruna

Could it be because they dont get paid for their services well. After all it is their livelihood.
