Some more at Bangalore-

Jan 27, 5:30 p.m., Ananya, Malleswaram
Geetha Shastra Sinchana- Vocal Concert by Dr.Sukanya
Prabhakar on compositions of a Mysore composer, Veena Venkatagiriappa.

I think this would be the eighth in the series. This has no accompaniments - only she and 2 of her disciples are there on stage. In the first part of the programme, she gives details about the composer's life, main compositions etc. Later, a few of the compositions are sung. It is absolutely, a
listener's delight.

I hear that Chennai-based Carnatica is organizing a mini version of their Bharat Sangeet Utsav (held in chennai every November), in early Feb at Bangalore. I don't know the entire schedule or the venues... the one interesting tidbit I got was that veteran RK Srikantan will be performing with GJR & Trichy Sankaran as accompanists. Now that, if true, would be something for Bangalore rasikas to look fwd to, especially because GJR rarely accompanies.

Talking of Bangalore and CM/HM, The Bangalore FM 100.1 (Amruthavarshini) is fully dedicated to classical CM and HM. There are several concerts everyday. Some of the featured programs are beautifully compered The channel is supported by a very responsive programme executive for station Director (Dr.N.RAGHU).

I will be in Bangalore on Sunday and planning to be at Bharat Sangeet Utsav. Do the autodrivers know Purandara Bhavan or are there other landmarks nearby?

sbala,

This is in Indira nagar.

Indiranagar Sangeeth Sabha
'Purandara Bhavan'
8th Main Road, HAL II stage
Phone : 65711214

It is only a few years old, so not many may be familiar with the name. If you mention the address, the auto will easily take
you there, maybe after some searching. From the airport, it would be about 4 km. From the city station it would be about 12 km, I guess. There is a comfortable Volvo bus to Indirangar available from the Majestic bus stand just opp. the station.
One could get down at the nearest stop, at HAL 2nd stage and walk it from there.

Sri sbala,

Auto drivers will not know 'purandarabhavan'. The best way is to ask them to take you to INDIRANAGAR CLUB. Purandarabhavan is adjacent to the Indiranagar Club.

Note, the entrance to this place is a bit tricky. I'm not sure from which direction are you coming. On the 100 ft road of Indiranagar, there is no roads between 6th and 12th main. You will have to use 6th main or 12th main and use the parallel road to 100ft road. These days the right turn at 12th main is also blocked ( if you are coming from the AIRPORT ROAD side). People who are driving their vehicle from this direction will have to take a right from 13th main.

Those who want help can contact me.

Im keen to know how Manasi Prasad is faring now. I had attended her concert a couple of years back at Mysore. She was ushered on the stage by her guru (RK Srinivasan is it? ) with great amount of praise, to the extent that it almost sounded fulsome. There were a lot of whispers in the audience about she studying at one of the IIMs (or IITs, i dont remember). The overall concert was pretty ordinary ( no way commensurate with great her looks :P )
