MFAC
Madurai TN Seshagopalan-Vocal
M Chandrasekharan - Violin
Guruvayur Dorai-Mridangam
Purushothaman-Kanjira

I am writing the song list from memory. So apologise for inaccuracies.

Reethigowlai Ata Tala Varnam
Don't remember
Sarasa Dala Nayane - Saramathi - Alapana
Kalyanarama - Hamsanadam-Alapana
Hecharikaga - Yadukulakambhoji-Neraval, Swaram, Tani
Azhaga Azhaga-Sudha Dhanyasi
RTP-Behag-Khanda Chapu (if memory is right) - Ragamalika Swaram in Anandabhairavi, Nattai
Thillana - Huseni-composition of TNS
Meera Bhajan
Mangalam

A very good concert. Saramathi Krithi was very emotively sung. Hamsanadam was the organizing Sabha and the Ragam was a nice choice. The main Yadukulakambhoji surprisingly didn't have an Alapana. But Neraval and Swarams were detailed. The Tani was interesting. A Pallavi was expected and the Behag RTP was quite elaborate with Ragam lasting for nearly 15 min. Ragamalika Swarams were also good. Thillana in Huseni and Meera Bhajan were rendered well too. Voice was in good shape. Sangathis were usual TNS style with Bhrigas. Some phrases in Behag were novel especially in Tanam. M Chandrasekharan gave good support.

TNS has been singing Meera Bhajans for several years - as early as from the late 80s. And I also have heard he has some album consisting exclusively of Bhajans.

akkAra vadiSil=the vaishNavite essence of all pAyasAs.
Nick,
Hope you get to taste it some day. I remember your relishing Sakkaraip pongal at Ramaraj's place...
