Hey there,i discovered this forum through a friend in India. I was looking through the various entries and this struck me..for the simple reason that it involves listeners of Carnatic Music in Singapore..And yes,i am a Singaporean..The Carnatic music scene here is awfully dull ...and i hope i could be included in your informative discussions if possible in the future?...Anyway,cheers to a great week ahead..

Bravo krishnan!
While the Ashtapadi shows an excellent teacher at work, the Kaanada presents a bhava-laden invocation (was it OVK?) from a mature voice. I immensely enjoyed the sedate homely presentation in the comfort of my armchair. Thank you very much.

While GBL excites you Mrs. Lalitha has a superb calming effect on the listener ( as we call 'the activation and the anodyne' in our profession!) (Coolkarni will find the right quotation :)

Let us have more in this cyber get-together of our Rasika group!

Das, wherever in the world you live you, as a carnatic music lover, are welcome to this forum :)

A rather exciting development over the past year or so is that it has led to actually meeting people.

Shubha Mudgal is a leading HM vocalist from Delhi.
Here fame is (probably) largely attributable to her "Baraso Re" POP song on Television.
Kalgada .. You may not find her Music too appealing. For a Talat Mehmood Fan like you , Chances are that you will feel that her music has a coarseness of style that will compete successfully with some of our CM Abhang Singers.
Now when can we hear a Talat Mehmood Melody from you next ?

I remember seeing two people with small khaki coloured bags- one a youngster wearing a pink/purple jibba with design and the other a middle aged man who came with his child. Were you either, Das?

Hi Bilahari

I havent seen any SIFAS concerts advertised although there is an annual day function september 13 (I think). Not sure if there is a concert that goes with it.

Will be a good idea to have a jam session.

Anyone else interested? Janani, Kaapi, are you reading?

Thanks for the details, Balaji sir.

Also, interested rasikas may note that Neyveli Santhanagopalan is singing at the Glass Hall (Museum) on 23rd Aug at 7.30 PM. Tickets are $25 apiece and a bit stiff.
