Not sure of what you mean by contemporary, but a couple of ideas are:
In this DVD, http://site.voila.fr/jayq/natyamala.html, Smt. Sreekala Bharath has a rAgamAlikA number on the rAni of jhAnsI - while the pronunciation (by the singer) leaves MUCH to be desired, Smt. Bharath has choreographed the first and last verses from Smt. Subhadra Kumari Chauhan's ode to the fiery queen who may have sparked the fire of freedom in the India diaspora (and incidentally, one of my all time favorite poems). You could try something like that.
If you want really nice fusion/modern music to dance to (pure dance for the most part) you can try some of the tracks of this group:

Thanks to Rshankar, Amraman and Nigamaa for thier ideas. By contempory Bharatanatyam, I meant using some modern day ideas and yet choreographing with mostly traditional Bharatanatyam steps. A good music would be key I think. My first thoughts were doing nature or Shrishti or navarasa , but I think those topics have been much explored . Hence I wanted some new ideas. I have listened to the music pieces by Ganesh Kumaresh and they are all great! Thanks Ambika for that. I will try Mynta. Thanks all!
