My first concert experience of hearing this vidushi. Her first varnam in KAnadA was just good , and continued with gAnamUrthi her rendition of the krithi was very good with her swaras just good , felt possibly she needed to add more weight there. The next suryamoorthE was very good . Her start of nAgaswarAli wasa fairly long alApana, perhaps indicating that krithi would be a sub main, her finish just with krithi appeared not that great to me with her voice showing bit of strain.

Her voice considerably cleared , her pantuvarAli was tad slower than what one usually hears nevertheless her rendition was very good throught out. KuntavArAli appeared as a very attention capturing filler . Liked her alApana of kharaharapriyA it was very detailed went for 11 minutes, she sang naDaci naDaci excellently during krithi and swaras, I felt her neraval in between was bit short .

Every musician works very hard to bring newer compositions nowadays, to me Amritha brought 2 new flavours of emotive kApi :) , both the viruththam and the tukkadA was excellent to outstanding(Attn Has anyone heard the 9A and 9B , I am hearing for the first time )

The accompanist padmA shankar was very good , there was always a pleasant nAdham emanating from her violin. Both the accompanists were just mediocre. Overall a good to very good concert

Rajesh, is the mridangam vidwan called pApanAsam sivan?
Could anyone tell us about his lineage? Thanks.

The mridangist is pApanAsam kumAr , not sivan (despite 2 KApi's, enna thappu seydanai :( ). Mridangist ganapathirAman was slated to play , he could not make it .

I googled to find out this tidbit of detail.
The grandfather of Papanasam Kumar, the mridangist, was Papanasam Rajagopala Iyer, brother of the illustrious composer Papanasam Sivan.
