i am new to this site.big fan of carnatic music and balamurali.recently i heard a thillana by him
GURUPRIYA...ITS a ragamalika thillana with gathibhedams.
will someone please explain me what he has done with the thalam??i am goin mad trying to figure out...

This is my take on the meanings of the sAhitya interwoven into the anupallavI and the different caraNas. Shishya/Rigapda can fix any errors:
A: This is a tillAnA that is dear (priyamaina) to my (mA) beloved guru (sadguru = sat + guru = excellent + teacher) who has established (nilipinaTTi) himself in my (mA – also swarAkSaram) heart (hrudayamuna)
C1: This is a tillAnA that will endear (priyamaina) itself to the connoisseurs (rasikAs) of the music (gAnam) of muraLI (the composer, SrI BMK).
C2: This tillAnA will become the chosen (sariyaina) favorite (priyamaina) of singers (gAyaka)
C3: This tillAnA, free as it is from all (sakala) blemishes (niSkaLakamaina = without kaLanka/blemish), is the beloved (priyamaina) of good (su) music (nAda).
C4: Composed (racitamai) with choice (priyamaina) grahabhEda in five (panca) rAgAs (rAgamulO), this tillAnA will please (priyamaina) the destroyer (hara) of khara (vishNu).
