Introduction was done by Mannargudi Eashwaran. He remembers playing Mridhangam in Neyveli town when Neyveli Santhanagopalan was 10 years old and that Neyveli Santhanagopalan still has the hand written Pallavi note given so many years ago by Mannargudi Eashwaran.
He also introduced Dr. Ram Sriram. They grew up as kids in Chennai and when they were about 7 years old they would dress themselves like Thyagaraja and wear mridhangam from their necks and go singing on the streets during thyagraja aradhana. It brought back a lot of old memories for these senior musicians and it was nice of them to share this openly in a public forum was heart warming and touching.
It was a great concert from start to end with excellent accompanists displaying their talents in Tani. Given a choice Neyveli Santhanagopalan would not have stopped. I learnt the same trio had performed the night before in Atlanta temple too.

Thanks for the information from Bhindi, I got to attend an excellent concert by this young talented girl Aishu Venkataraman accompanied by her father on the mridhangam on March 28th,2008 at ETSU School of Music. They both kept the audience in mind and did a lot of explanation for the predominantly American crowd which was good for all of us. I also got to buy her CD titled "Bliss" which is a fund raiser for Baylor International Pediatric AIDS Initiative. She played a Varnam in Aabhogi to start, vathapi ganapathim, raga Shankarabharanam and ended with the fast paced English note.
