In this seven minute recording made in October 2004, Smt. Kalpakam Swaminathan and Professor KG Vijayakrishnan have an impromptu session on sahAna discussing rAga lakShaNa and their respective veena styles...

Thanks...Ramki!

Since you titled this thread 'sahAnA conversations', am I correct is assuming that there are more such 'conversations'? ;)

Thanks vainika. Very nice. Interesting contrast of styles and such nice exchanges between them.

I can't get enough of her Veenai. I am waiting for Cleveland Aradhana to release those concert CDs.

rshankar: yes, there are more and I will try to get them up soon :)

sbala: sounds like a good idea. I will definitely try to round up representatives of diverse styles, were someone to put together such a session.

Devine for sure. The entire recording is very natural, and reflected participants in depth knowledge. Thanks for sharing.

That was lovely Vainika. As wonderful as your conversation with Mami during her Concert for rasikas.I mean your responses to her , in the neravals.:D
As I write these words , I am listening to a Veena concert , where an equally beautiful conversation is taking place , on the Veena, between another Master and his disciple. Wish to dedicate it to you (in true Radio Mirchi style)
:)

Ramki,
that was a lovely conversation...two different styles blended nicely.
if I remember right, Dr N.Ramani also plays the phrase PMGMR like your Guru (with a Kanada touch).

cheers
Ramnath

Sri Coolkarni,
that was really astounding clip of Sri Balachander and his disciple - was it Gayathri ?
What an imagination and creativity by the master !!

took me on a nostalgic trip to the 70s/80s...thanks a ton for sharing this.

regards
Ramnath
