Some corrections:
nI maravAdenai AL jagadISA
nin tiru nAmam en nA maravAdE
tAi maravAL iLam S(c)Ey marandAlum
tArakam vErevar dIna SaraNyanE

Somehow, the third line sticks out like a sore thumb to me.

Oh jagadISA (jagat+ISA = Lord 'ISA' of the world 'jagat')! I request you (nI) to rule/control/take charge of (AL) me (enai) without forgetting (maravAdu) about my desparate straits! Especially since my (en) tongue (nA) will not forget (maravAdE) to utter your divine (tiru) name (nAmam), even if a mother (tAi) and her young (iLam) child (SEy) forget each other (maravAL/marandAlum). After all, who (evar) else (vEru) but you can get us across this ocean of life (tArakam), Oh succour/refuge (SaraNyanE) of the destitute (dIna)!

I would think line 3 means " Even if a child forgets, will a mother ever forget(tp take care) ?, No she won't(maRavAL)"

Rajani is right. It is maRavAL (she won't forget).

I have a question here.
Don't forget me, jagadISA,
I won't forget speaking your name.
Even if a child does forget, the mother does not,
So, it is not fair on your part to forget me since I do remember to speak your name, unlike the child which forgets its mother?

Perhaps the entire song would give me the complete meaning.

The song is about Sivan. Normally, you would find the tAi, SEi imagery in songs about goddesses. Then again, Sivan was tAyumAnavan. I cannot assume anything because the composer would know best.

'tAi maravAL, iLam S(c)Ey marandAlum' - The young child has to be taken care by some one, and none other than a mother can take care the best way. Hence 'tAi' (mother) credential is quoted here.

In this song, while pallavi starts with 'Paa' in Paarvathi (swarAksharam), anu pallavi starts at 'Saa' in Saarva (swaraksharam) and not the least - charaNam starts at 'Nee' (Nee marAvA).

TVS used to sing this kriti very well.

'tAi maravAL iLam S(c)Ey marandAlum'

- For getting correct meaning, it is actually iLam S(c)Ey marandAlum, tAi maravaL ( even if the child forgets, the mother will never) and here the great PSI has rightly given due honours to the 'Mothers'. The tendency of forgetting by child(ren) is naturual but the tAi will keep thinking about her child(ren).

And meaning fully 'Shanmukha priyan' is parvathi nAyakan...

About the MOTHER, i had written a poem 3 years back. I am sharing wth you all:

INCARNATION

Of all forms of a Woman,
Best is MOTHER to any human.
Quite rightly the very word ‘MOTHER’
Does cover all the ‘OTHER’.
As the way ‘M’ alphabet,
SHE leads and none can compete.
Her Selfless Affection stands unequal & tall.
Doubtlessly, the Universe looks very small.
Even GOD would sincerely wish
To be a Mother and would cherish.

Even in basic saptha swaras, 'ma' is the 'centre' of attraction...

Annasamy,
A timely tribute, now that Mothers Day is approaching. Not that you need a special day to celebrate mothers...
