I am not going to review this awsome concert. Please apply all the adjectives that you know off to this concert!! Amazing todi, mukhari & Bhairavi.... A complete concert in all aspects..

Initially voice not very co-operative, particularly in sri ranjani piece, tara stayi sangathis weren't clear due to voice limitations, but it picked up as concert progressed.

I have few pictures, will post them soon, thanks to my son.. Smt Ponnamaal was gracisious enough to bless me and my family, and i can't ask for a better treat on my birthday.

That should be Sarasangi, not Charukesi.

arasi madam - thanks for your wishes.. Actually i was not planning to post it here, since it was a private affair. The host mentioned to me that you are actually looking forward for the review . That prompted me to post the songlist. Aactually, i posted only the songlist and not review - as i told, i am not going to review anything.. Ponnamaal's music is divine - and who i am i to talk about it?

I was telling Ponnamaal amma that i am looking for more of her music - she immediately told me that i am performing in Krishna Gana sabha on 24 May, and in July in Academy and Nada Inbam... Chennai folks are in for a great treat... I look forward to attend them god willing.

I was also telling fellow rasikas that how amma would have sung in her 30's and 40's... Hope i get to hear even one of her keerthanas rendered during her prime....Is anyone listening??

thanks for posting the photos.It is so satisfying to look at the graceful and serene face of Ponnammal amma.I have never heard her but read a few reviews of her concert and am really looking forward to listening to her.Happy that we can atleast see the photographs.Thanks once again.

She was a regular at AIR Trivandrum, I remember listening to so many of her 8.20 am music programs.

Hope someone from AIR Trivandrum is listening and brings out a compilation of hers as a CD.

This concert of Smt. Parassala B Ponnammal was organised by Essae Music Foundation. We organise concerts once in 3 months. We do not have any membership and our audience participate on invitation. We began in May 2007 and the first concert was by Sri Bangalore S. Shankar. That was followed by a concert of Sri Sikkil Gurucharan in November, and Smt. Bhagyalakshmi Chandrashekar in February 2008.

Hari, thanks for starting this thread. Rasikas in Bangalore who are interested in attending such concerts can email us from this forum.

It was a concert beyond reviews! Sigh... I just did not want to get up and come out of there - divine music, in such a great ambience!!
