It is not right (sarik(g)Adu rA - once again, rA is a 'familiar' form of address here) to delay (tAmasambu c(j)EsEdi) Oh handsome one (manOharA - one whose form is so appealing, that it has stolen/won over one's mind), I cannot stand it (tamitALadu rA). Oh father of cupid/manmathA (kAma janaka), SrInivAsA, please come (rA rA) to me with compassion (karuNatO) after listening (vini) to my request (viNNappamunu).

Please make haste (viraindu) and come (varuvAi), after understanding (arindu) the state/situation (nilai) of my (en) mind (mana), Oh Lord sundararAjan! Please protect (kAttu) and bless (aruLvAi) me/the composer (krishNadAsanai) who bows (paNiyum) down at your (un) lotus-like feet (padamalar) daily (dinamum).

The divine (tiru) vEnkatESa (vEnkaTamuDaiyAn) whose feet (tiruvaDiai) are unfailingly (maravAda - without forgetting) worshipped by (paNiyum) the poet (krishNadAsan is the mudra of Madurai SrI N. Krishnan) daily (dinamum) is the Lord established (konDirukkum - one who has established himself) in the holy (tiru) temple (kOvil) located in Mylapore (tiru mayilaiyil).
Mylapore is an area in Madras/Chennai - famous for the temple of kapAlISwara and karpagAmbika - the legend is that pArvatI took the form of a peahen (mayil) and performed austere penance and worshiped a Siva linga made of sand - lord Siva was pleased with her devotion and what followed was holy matrimony - celebrated even today in the temple each year in a grand manner, after which, the divine couple is entertained with concerts arranged for what is called the 'vasanta utsavam' - the Spring Festival. In 'those' days, when the temple tank was full of water, some of these concerts were held on a float. The area around the temple is called the 'land (puri) of the peahen' - mylApur or mayilApur/maiyilApuri.

2. asamAna maina tillana murali nADa vinOda maina tillAna kuntalavarALi rAga mainadi
