Ramendrab - quick debrief from memory
Sub-main - Paramdhamavathi - Dharmavathi
Main - Thyagaraja krithi in Kharaharapriya (don't remember which - a relatively rare one)
Dandamu Bettenura?? - Balahamsa
The brothers were in their elements and it was a throughly engaging concert of which the Dharmavathi alaapana was the most noteworthy feature. Varadarajan played an outstanding Kharaharapriya while Mannargudi Eashwaran didn't look anything like the recovering patient that I know he must have been, brilliantly reproducing the concluding theme from the brothers' swara korvai. I cannot remember who was on the ghatam.

That I guess would be rare indeed. I have a DKP concert with an elaborate iko namm sami (maNirangu) quite elaborately with excellent kalpanaswaras. A fantastic rendition. But I am not sure if this was main - it may have been sub-mainarasi wrote:One of my wishes: non-karnAtakA singers taking up a Purandara dAsa kruti and singing it as a main--at least in KarnATakA! In a regular concert, that is--not just in a Purandara dAsA festival.

Well, a sub main would be nice too. I have heard 'nambik keTTavarillavO' many years ago sung by a vocalist from tamizh nADu as a main.
Of course, I have heard exclusively dAsA kruti concerts in KarnAaka.
The reason I wondered about it was: is it because some think they belong in the tukkaDA section? They sing telugu songs and in sanskrit too as mains. It is the other way round for kannaDigAs, AndhrAs and kEraLites when it comes to tamizh).
Many of tyAgarAjA's songs are not presented in their entirety as mains or sub mains. It is just the rAgA, neraval and svarAs that are elaborated. Is it just a matter that musicians have heard PD's songs all these years as tukkaDA pieces and that is why they remain to be so?
I wish the young vocalists who are of experimenting with AriyakkuDi format also consider this...

I got a pleasant surprise in this Dec season. We walked in a bit late to Sikkil Gurucharan's concert at SKGS, and he sang a detailed Kalyani, followed by Nambi kettavarillavo as his main. That was the first concert we attended the season, and we were amazed to find that the first song we heard was a Purandaradasa kriti...

Arasi,
'pOgadiralO ranga' is one which is heard as main on few occasions.
TMK gave a Purandara Day concert in 2007 Feb or so, which had 'pAlisamma' in mukhari and 'Enu baradEyo(?) in thODi as major krithis.
This years inagural concert at Fort School Sri Yesudas had sung few Dasa krithis incl guruvina gulAma in hamsAnandi and 'Enanitu mechisuvEnO' in dharmavathi.

Recently a concert was organised by Thyagaraja Sangeetha Vidwat Samajam wherein Shri.Kasturirangan (Disciple of Shri.TNS) sang an entire concert dedicated to Purandaradasa and made an excellent job of it also. He sang for a little over 2 hours and i have played one special purandaradasa concert organised by Hamsadhwani about 2 years ago for Smt.Gayatri Venkatraghavan.
I shall post the list of songs of Kasturirangan and also Gayatri Venkatraghavan .. in a day or two.

pOgu = hOguarasi wrote:Thank you Balaji.
Look forward to the lists.
mahesh_narayan,
Both mean the same. But pOgadiralO is how I have it in my book.
Many of the 'p' in old kannaDa are transformed to 'h' during the medieval ages. Purarndara dAsa has used both words pOgu, and hOgu. I cant comment about how it was spoken.
In the context of this song, I have always heard it as "pOgAdirelO ranga"..
