Song List:

Shri Nathadi Guruguho - Mayamalavagoula - Muthuswami Dikshitar (S)
Brochevarevare - Sriranjani - Thyagaraja (S)
Sumasayaka (Varnam) - Karnataka Kapi - Swathi Tirunal (A)
Shri Kalahastisha - Huseni - Muthuswami Dikshitar
Kamakshi Bangaru - Varali - Shyama Shastri (ANST)
Ra Ra Seetha - Hindolavasantam - Thyagaraja
RTP - Surati ("Ramachandra Dayanidhe Shrinidhe Sugunanidhe", Chaturashra Jhampa)
Ragamalika swarams in Surati, Thodi, Begada, Kanakambari (asampurna mela 1)
Rama Rama Pranasakhi (Padam) - Bhairavi - Kshetragna
Jaanaro E Mohamu (Javali) - Kamas - Poochi Iyengar
Kanavendamo - Sriranjani - Papanasam Sivan
Tirupati Venkataramana - Sindhu Bhairavi - Purandara Dasa
Mamava Pattabhirama - Manirangu - Muthuswami Dikshitar
Mangalam Kosalendraya (Mangalam) - Manirangu

Nice concert with outstanding renditions of Karnataka Kapi and Varali. Manodharma in
Varali was superb, both neraval and swarams were simply outstanding. The pallavi
was also nicely rendered, with an (unusual) GNB-like briga-based approach to Surati.
The varnam, padam and javali were all rendered very movingly. Shri Nathadi was
also really well sung with creative swarams, but Brochevarevare was a little short. Ragamalika
swarams in Begada went well into tara stayi and were amazing. Mamava
Pattabhirama and the rare Manirangu Mangalam were a pleasant surprise to round off.

Funnily, two Sriranjani pieces (both well sung), and Krishna himself came to the realization
and joked about it after singing Kanavendamo. Another funny incident during the ragamalika
swarams: following a nice round of swarams in Kanakambari, Krishna wanted to announce
the name of the raga but forgot and confirmed with Sriram Kumar :) -- this after he'd sung the
raga so well!

Sriram Kumar played brilliantly (his alapanas of Karnataka Kapi, Varali and Surati were
outstanding), and a thoroughly enjoyable thani from Arun Prakash.

Sounds like a great concert, Arvind. Thanks for the review.
The repeat of Sriranjani as I read the list made me think that kANa vENDAmO? was a listener's request and he wanted to oblige!
suraTi RTP would have been really good. TMK sings suraTi very well.

dhanyasi,
Some musicians take off their watches and place it in front of them to keep an eye on the time. If he did not take it off before the beginning of the concert, perhaps he was preoccupied with something like the Sruti or the sound.

arasi.. I think this is a TMK thing. we have discussed this before.. he always removes his watch from his hand at the start of the second song not before not after.. that is why i remarked on this..

I see! I was wondering too if you asked the question: why after the second song!
Nothing to do with numerology, I would guess!

The Varali piece, Surati RTP & the Bhairavi padam were my favorites. Special mention must be made of Arunkumar. His kalapramanam was just superb. His accompanying style is also very unique. Lots of pauses and bursts of nadais - he literally plays the composition on the mridangam. One could tell that this team has given innumerable number of concerts together - they were in the comfort zone with one another. No one upmanship - the three of them working together to present their music.

Pravin,
You mean, Arunprakash? Yes, 'He literally plays the composition on the mrudangam'. And to have Sriramkumar as the violinist! True support indeed, for any vocalist...
