Would be nice if we get a proper review and not those posts which take us to winding by lanes of comments of negative content that have nothing to do with the performance we would like to hear about :)

Well said Arasi !. We need to retune ourselves in this forum to be more focussed on the main headline of the thread

Mr Suresh VV, please... He is also a member of this group and it is not appropriate to make such comments and corner him.. Just like how there is a family of people who write/want to write good about the artists, there are another family of people who are critics and look at the concert from a different angle thats it..

"make sure sathanandan is silenced" .......

This is what i had called 'mafiadom' in my earlier post. Let us act as mature adults and be objective about both the art and the artist.

Lets refrain from making statements / innuendos about 'good and bad people' . Passing value judgements on peoples character can be avoided.

Indeed. A rasikA is a rasikA is a rasikA. We assume that being a rasikA makes us better than bitter. Also, harping about one's opinions, however unpalatable, also makes us close our eyes to what other positive qualities that particular person may possess.
Music is better for discussions than men, whether it be a musician or a rasikA!

The concert has not happened and already so many views.

If a "rasika" is going to take the high road - they did not like the like the concert - that is fine. Loko Binna Ruchihi.

Instead, they are only complaining or snide remarks - sound check, walking out in the middle of the concert or some half baked snide remarks about Ariyakudi format - Is that a true rasika ?

Annamalai,
So at this stage of the game, this thread should actually go to Music and Festivals

This concert was an excellent one. TMK was in great form! A soul-stirring Shubhapanthuvarali Alaapanai to be followed by Sri Satyanarayanam and also a melodious Karaharapriya! The Tyagaraja Swami kriti "Nadachi Nadachi" was rendered very well. I am sure someone else who attended the concert would agree.

R K Sriram Kumar and Arun Kumar were their usual best. Arun Prakash played a wonderful thani during the Karaharapriya piece. To sum it up.......a very good concert!

Song list :
Valachi - Navaragamalika varnam
Theratheeyagaraadha - Gowlipantu
Shankuchakra gadha panim - Poornachandrika
Sreesathyanarayanam - Shubapantuvarali
Maakelara - Ravichandrika
Nadachi nadachi - Karaharapriya
Shri bhargavi - Mangalakaisiki
Karpooram naarumo - Khamas
Ille vaikunta - Varali (preceded by a ragamalika virutham - Maravadiyai thambikku)
Mohanamayil - Anandabhairavi
Bhajagovindam - Ragamalika
Vangakadal kadaindha - Surutti followed by Mangalam also in Surutti.

After the concert, the temple founder asked him to come to the sannidhi to sing for shayanotsavam for which he and RKShriramkumar together sang Madhava Mamva in Neelambari. It was great!!

Overall, a truly truly wonderful concert. I agree he was in wonderful form and was accompanied very well as usual by RKS and Arun Prakash. Very soulful music and it was so well received. I would like to mention that TM Krishna was wonderfully pleasant to deal with before concert, during mike testing, during concert :) and after concert as well.
All those posts from the NJ concert about his attitude etc. really makes me wonder what people were thinking!!! And Arun Prakash gives such wonderful dhvani and again couldnt believe the stuff written in earlier posts.. I understand opinions differ, but still!!
The Shri Bhargavi he sang yetserday outdid his own rendition in his CD. Maybe it was becos I heard it live this time. Many in the audience mentioned it brought tears to their eyes...
I could go on and on about this concert but to summarise in 1 word - Mindblowing!

Dear Fuddyduddy,

Amen. Also, I am very glad you also mentioned the post-concert event. It is both a spiritual and a musical moment when T. M. Krishna and Shriramkumar, sitting in front of Lord Ranganatha, sing Madhava Mamava. For me, this added to the continuation of the mood created by his singing the Mangala Kaishiki kriti of Dikshitar. Thanks for the post.
