I would observe that not only do we, as as individuals, have hugely different capacities for humour, extending from zero all the way up, but we also have an enormous variety of different kinds of humour; they are not always compatible!
But we get by, and we get on...
And perhaps VGV is right that we shouldn't start straight in with the humour!
But, hey, there we go!

Hi everyone. Though I have been active in this community I have never really made a formal introduction about myself. I'm a rasika like everyone here and benefitting a lot from knowledgable rasikas in this forum. Currently I'm pursuing my doctoral studies in USA. When in India I was fortunate to have had formal training in carnatic music (flute) from Vid B Shankar Rao, Bangalore.

Nick ..wonder what 'pun'ish-meant?
Probably it means that a Pun can be used as a prop or as an ornament..End Effect is the same.
Very much the way,MDR addressed this Issue in his composition...

hi jayantasri! yes i was a student of vocal music.now i am being busy with my hunt for cracking the civils. by the way is your favourate ragam, jaynathasri? i am an ardent devotee of BHAIRAVI. Its an unexplicable joy that one experiences a delightful'raksha bettare' or a 'balagopala'. The rishabha and gandhara sung in upper register in bhairavi is a total bliss.

VKR,
It is not 'upacAra mUlanu' - it is 'upacAramulanu'
In a parallel thread we were discussing about artists paying royalty for the kRtis sung.
The greatest royalty that one can pay is to at least understand the meaning and sing it with proper diction.
Music is not just sa-ri-ga-ma-pa-dha-ni - It is only a tool to express a bhAva.
