Yes,it is from chori chori, music by Shanker Jaikishen in the raag shud kalyan .Any reference about the olden day melodies of films ofhindi, tamil, not to forget malayalam is like enjoying eating a piece ( a piece may be even half a kilo ) of badamhalwa. . I forgot the names . Olden day malayalam films are full of very melodious songs. 'PRAMADA VANAM VENUM from film HIS HIGHNESS ABDULLA IS ONE SUCH.. I think it is jog raag . Let us have more such episodes of pleasant memories . awaiting badam halwa from Arasi . GOBILALITHA

Arasi,

Here you go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gzc4G1ej6OI

Every song in this movie is a gem (Ek sE baDhkar Ek)...including the tillAnA that Kamala danced to...

AjA sanam madhur cAndnI mein:

yEh rAt bhIgI bhIgI:

(this reminds me of some of the padams - yUn Ag sI lagAkar gum sum hai cAndnI)

But this is the song that symbolizes those light hearted times for me:

Ravi,
Thanks a bundle! Those were our days of musical bliss that the celluloid brought to us. Our 'hot from the film' songs have endeared themselves to you young ones as well. Speaks of their enduring quality. Not as earthy as some of the padams Ravi. They sounded ethereal, at least in those times...!

It s no exaggeration when I say that in all the music contests in the various channels of tv, in any language, only old songs are appreciated . I can never forget the olden days(of course , not so old, only a decade back), when SonuNigam was conducting the TVS Saregama show every monday at 8 pm on Zeetv. All the family members and friends used to assemble and enjoy the show. Hundreds of talented singers used to take part. Once Mohd Vakil, ghazal singer, a strapping youth at that time sang Baro krishnayya, with sangatis , never heard of. Has any body got it recorded? can it be posted without infringing the copyright restrictions?. Anothe incident ,in one of the shows , a girl aged 9 started weeping bitterly when judged second, making us feel very sad .The judge , the very handsome TalatAziz hugged her and consoled her with great difficulty . gobilalitha

Gobilalitha,
Those old musical memories are bAdAm HalvA for us!
However, I am not as up to date as you are about their revival in recent shows. I still have to get used to watching television in India. All those channels of entertainment is mind boggling.

R.SHANKAr,I made a reference to ' baro krishnayya'. made very famous by Dr MLV, NOT kRISHNA NEE.'
Thansks .pl try for baro krishnayya.
I think that the contestant singing mohanam tillana is Mohd Vakil. gobilalitha
