Hello, I am tried a lot myself to write MP3 to DVD+R and DVD+RW. I have a DVD writer in my laptop (DVD ReWritable - DVD Ultraspeed)

The DVD i used are Sony make, DVD+RW 4.7GB, 1x-4x speed and DVD+R 4.7GB, 1x-16x speed. I tried writing through microsoft media player and through Windows XP OS also. As soon as i insert the CD, in Windows XP (see picture 2 below - in circled area left bottom), i get free space as 0 bytes, even though it is a new blank CD. Any suggestions on how to resolve this? Appreciate a quick response.

Have you tried to reformat the disc?

The problem seem to be OS related? (May be driver)? When i go to My Computer, i see the CD displayed as CD Drive instead of DVD-RW Drive. But, randomly once in a while it momentoraily display as DVD-RW with 0 byte free, and then go back to CD Drive...

What version of Windows Media do you have? That could be one reason. I'd suggest that your best option is to use a standard CD burning software such as Nero and burn the MP3s as a DVD data disc. Windows CD writing facility is a piece of s**t, IMHO... a pain in the wrong place ;)

Sometimes XP mislabels disk drives which it doesn't know how to categorize. But writing can still work. Try downloading this piece of software(free) called Nero Infotool and see if it recognizes the diskdrive for what it is . If it does and the appropriate options are checked on the Drive tab you can rule out drive-related issues. http://www.nero.com/enu/support-nero8-t ... ities.html

And then as someone has already said get something like Roxio or Nero or limited-functionality freeware like cdburnerxp http://cdburnerxp.se/ to burn it.

Make sure that the disk is blank, and that you havent tried burning stuff to it before, because you can only do it once! Trying to write on disks that have already been written to usually gives problems like this.

All the DVD burners or Laptop I bought had a burning software like Nero coming with them. Ask your seller why he did not supply it? This would end your problems. I save the .mp3 with Nero to DVD+ and it works to play on an external DVD Player. Sometimes mixing .mp3 with other file formats stops the DVD working.

Hi Vidya - Thanks... I downloaded both cdburnexp and nero8-info... I was able to write CD with cdburnexp, though can't play in DVD Player.. This is good enough for now...

Nigamaa - This is my company laptop, so they reimaged it. Obviously, they are not going to give me DVD writer s/w. I called IT support yesterday night, and took their help. They reinstalled driver etc, but still it didn't help. They said, they will request for a burner s/w for a fee, but for fear of facing boss, i told them i don't need it (;-
