Nithyashree opened the concert with a wonderful Hamsadwani varnam.Raghuveera Ranadheera a beautiful composition of Thyagaraja featured next. She gave a short outline of the raga Kalavathi and took up the Thyagaraja krithi 'Okkapaari" .the swarakalpana done at th pallavi showed her prowess and command over the raga. The delination Shubhapanthuvarali was really pleasing.followed by the famous composition of Dikshitar "Shri Satyanarayanam Upasmahe"
Next came the Yadukulakambhoji piece of Papanasam Sivan,'Kumaran thaal'.It was a wonderful rendition. Her pronounciation of Telugu words is really worth appreciation. The way she rendered "Mangambudhi Hanumantha" in Dharmavathy. The clear pronounciation of the words was really surprising. The master piece of Syama Sastry in Ahiri featured next.'Mayamma ani ne pilachithe ' was sung with great devotion. The Kharaharapriya elaboration was good. The famous krithi of Thyagaraja "Pakkala nilabadi" came up as the main item. The neraval and swarakalpana at the line 'Manasuna Thalachi'[almost all the musicicans do the neraval and swarakalpana here itself]
Next came the wonderful RTP in Mohanam.Sama,Brindavani and Saranga. The Ragaalapana of the four ragas followed by the thanams in the four ragas was amazing.....The pallavi was rendered very well..in all the four ragas. The Swarakalpana went in many ragas. It wasreally tough to guess al of them. She did the Swarakalpana in a wonderfulmanner. It was a true treat to the ears.she dealt with many rags including Mohanam,Sama,Brindavani,Bhoopalam,Anandabhairavi,Atana,Surya and many more. The violinst shri Sanjeev proved as an able accompaniment. He was no less.He was equally excellent.Thaniavarthanam was also wonderful.Shri Pathri Sathish Kumar and Shri Ramana Murthy were amazing. The next item was the famous "Krishna nee begane" I dont think anybody would ever dislike this wonderful piece. It was really pleasing. She sang the Ahirbhairav composition which came after a Virutham. When i spoke to her last time she said that she did not know who was the composer of this song. But this time she said that it was Tirupoor Neelakantan.
However she said that there are many controversies even now and she is not sure about the composer. However the composition is a wonderful piece. She sang another Annamacharya composition in Des."Paripoorna garudaadhri Panchaananam"I once again mention her wonderful pronounciation of the lyrics. She was really excellent. The concert ended in a Thillana in Karnaranjani.
On the whole it was really a wonderful concert.Nithyashree left a wonderful impact on the rasikas.
Her melliflous voice was really really pleasing. She ended with a Mangalam in Sowrastram composed by Thyagaraja

Thanks for the review - she seems to have adopted TNS's approach to singing ragamalika swaram for the pallavi (ie a multitude of ragas).

When did she get the 'Dr' title??

Isn't that the same as 'Adi tALam'?

And isn't the RTP another 'catur rAga RTP'?

She got Dr. title earlier this year (sometime in March/April) and she received it from Sathyabhama University (Chennai).

Wish there was a recording of this!!

Mohan,
TNS or Nityashree, or anyone else for that matter, however mellifluous the voice, it is overwhelming for me to hear that many rAgAs in one go in the svara kalpanA, all in a jiffy, that too after rAgamAlikA rAgAs...

It's strange that a lot of people enjoy it. I personally like it from time to time, as long as it isn't regular (which it fortunately isn't in this case). It's very common with TNS though. At least his Kapi makes up for it. :)

Such a multitude sometimes makes me wonder if better justice could be done to the Pallavi itself rather than an array of Ragamalika Swarams. And was the Pallavi here in Adi Talam-2 Kalai?
