Mahaganapathim -Chalanattai.
P M G S & S G M G S used(I hear) in "swaram" following this kriti. Is it allowed Chalanattai being a melakartha?

My 2 cents - apologies for mistakes:
If you are asking if it is ok to skip swaras in a today's melakarta, then there is no rule per-say that this is disallowed for a mela (although overuse would probably be discouraged). For example, in tODi, one can skip pancama - check the entire 2nd half of the tODi varnam.
However, the "calanATa" here for this krithi is as per asampUrNa mEla defn of calanATa, which is today's nATa (and not today's chalanATa - which takes the sampUrNa mela structure). There, ga appears only in arOhaNa - implying one can only ascend from ga, and not descend. So this would be wrong. Unless it is somehow a vishesha prayoga that is not captured by aro/avaro. I dont see any mention of it in SSP. Otherwise it is a gambhIranATa flavor brought into it.
