I heard sanjay saying about this in jaya tv ragamalika. i did not listen properly as the sound was breaking up .. someone to help?

gOpriya IIRC would be D1 N2 (spacing between all swaras would be same)

I think the representation used might be causing the confusion here.
If we use S R1 R2 G1 G2 M1 M2 P D1 D2 N1 N2 S for representing the 12 swara sthanas, then gOpriyA would be S R2 G2 M2 D1 N1 S
If we use S R1 R2 (or G1) G2 (or R3) G3 M1 M2 P D1 D2 (or N1) N2 (or D3) N3 S for representing the swara sthanas, then gOpriyA would be S R2 G3 M2 D1 N2 S
Since ganesh_mourthy said that the raga takes alternate swara sthanas, it must be gOpriyA with any of the two representations used. I think he used the former representation in his first post.
