Carnatica brothers at Sydney murugan temple

Date 28th June Sydney Murugan temple.

The Carnatica bros gave an outstanding performance at the murugan temple keeping the listeners glued to their seats for all most 3 hrs. The rasikas even refused to interval break

They sang so many tamil songs and also including a few other compositions to make the concert appealing to all sections with some interactions and quizzing.

They have very powerful voices and their music is full of energy from start to finish.

If I have omitted any song, anyone who attended please complete it.

All the pieces were rendered beautifully. Kaa va vaa was excellent. Todi song was very moving. Hope to hear more of their music. Mohan ayyar added colour to the concert. The violin volume was quite subdued and he didn't seem to be competent to match the brothers in my view. Bala and Kishen were enthusiastic. Sashikiran announced a few gifts as he quizzed the listeners on identifying a few ragas. His announcements on the song details was helpful. Ganesh's Varali alapanai was excellent. The the swarams by the brothers were impressive.

By the way I must add that the book by Sashikiran for students of music is very useful. Hope the remaining volumes will also be available soon.

Sounds like a very nice concert. An interesting concert too, with a synthesizer for an accompaniment--our fellow member Mohan playing it! The 'brothers' are energetic on and off stage. Friendly as well.
Does Kranti Kiran belong to the famous family as well?
Many tamizh songs too! Is Sidney's south indian population mainly tamizh?
Whose composition is manamOhanA which Shashikiran has tuned?

Maybe Brazil Subramaniam's. Shashikiran has tuned quite a few of his.

seems like it was a great concert! a lot of my fav ragas such as todi, jonpuri and shanmughapriya! I shd have taken a coach from Canberra to attend!

Unfortunately, does anyone feel as i do, that dikshitar kritis seem to be noticeably absent from kutcheris in Sydney? It's rather sad as he's my fav composer...but i guess tamil compositions are taking precedence.

Arasi Madam: Thank you for the corrections. I hope next time I will try to be more accurate. Yes Mohan Ayyar was supportive and seemed to share a great rapport with the brothers who were very energetic as you rightly mentioned.

Sasa 110- Yes you missed a fabulous concert though as you say there were not many Dikshitar Kritis. But Sashikiran mentioned at the concert beginning itself that the concert would be predominantly Tamil based murugan songs as requested by the Saiva manram group I suppose. But yes Sydney is missing some of the other great compositions particularly seeing the kind of pathanthara the brothers have. Even at the sydney music festival there were more Tamil compositions only by most artists.
Seems like the Canberra concert was great too. A friend of mine said they sang an all Tamil concert at Karpaga Vinayagar temple, Sydney on Friday which was also very impressive I believe. Couldn't make it because I had my tickets booked for Dasavataram.

Was a pleasure and honour to accompany these artistes even though there was little manodharma component in the concert. Concert format is often dictated by the organisation. The brothers had decided on a Tamil Murugan theme and showed their huge repertoire in such items.
