Place to go if you want to ask someone identify raga, tala, composer etc or ask for sāhitya (lyrics) or notations or translations.

I am looking for a rendition of the ashtalakshmi stotram starting with the words sumanasa vandita. It is a ragamalika rendition starting with Anandabhairavi (it is possible there are variants to this, but I am looking for the one starting with Anandabhairavi).

If someone can point to an online rendition (i have searched, i have searched low - no luck yet), or perhaps share a recording, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks
Arun

There are versions in Revathi by Sudha, Bombay Jayashree, TMT but I could not find any that starts with Anandabhairavi either. You have probably run into this, this blog http://miamisubbudu.blogspot.com/ refers to this song as a ragamalika in 8 ragas but does not specify the ragas. May be you can contact the author of the blog for a lead.

If i'm not mistaken, the version starting with anandabhairavi was popularized by Smts. C. Saroja and C. Lalitha way back in the 70s.. isn't the refrain "jaya jaya he madhusudana kamini..?"

My mother plays this song nearly every Friday. I do believe the opening raga on her recording is Anandabhairavi, and it is indeed a ragamalika. I will try asking her which tape it came from

Yes Bombay Sisters popularized this "way back" and this is request is for my mom :)

I am hoping someone else may have sung it or atleast digitized that one (it is not available for sale - or atleast was hard to find last time I was in Chennai)

Arun, I just found this version online. It is not the same exact rendition we have but it begins with anandabhairavi. Is it the one you are looking for?

http://www.hummaa.com/artist/asongs.php?aid=17150&lg=

in (I believe) anandabhairavi, hamsanandhi, misra tilang, and hamirkalyani.

Thanks Umesh - but this one seems to starts with hindolam - so this is not it.

Ah - the search continues :) - I am waiting for you to get info from your mother!

Listen to the one titled "stothram" (the second one), not the ashtakam. I am almost positive that one is anandabhairavi. In any case, I haven't had the chance to ask and will get back to you soon.

Umesh - thanks. That one indeed does start with Anandabhairavi but is not the one we are looking for. The tune is different, and also my mom says second raga in that other one is sAranga. It also ends in madhyamAvati. I guess only Bombay Sisters must have sung it.
