I am posting the invitation here and will post the program in succeeding posts.
SRI SITA-RAMA KALYANA MAHOTHSAVAM
A REQUEST FOR PARTICIPATION
Umayalpuram is a serene village, located on the banks of Cauvery, in the bus route from Kumbakonam to Thiruvaiyaru. This village can boast of a few ancient temples for Lord Vishnu & Lord Siva in addition to abodes of Lord Ganapathi & Ayyanar.
The village also takes pride as the birthplace of the brothers, Brahmasri.Sundara Bhagavathar & Krishna Bhagavathar, well known direct disciples of Saint Thyagaraja. The brothers had installed the Vigrahas of Lord Rama along with Sita, Lakshmana and Anjaneya in the Rama Mandiram (popularly called as Bajanai Matam) situated in the East Street of this Village. This Bajanai Matam was renovated in 1921 by Sri.Kasi. P.Vaidyanatha Iyer (Great Grandfather of Chandru Balaraman} and Daily Pujas are being conducted by his descendents all these years. Bajans & Divya Nama Sankirtanams have been going on with devotion, with the active participation of the residents of the village and many devotees from far & near. Many a great Carnatic musician had performed before Lord Rama, over the decades. Gokulashtami & Sita Rama Kalyanams have been the annual features over the last several decades.
In this Kaliyuga, great sages & Jivan Mukthas prescribe Nama Sankirthanam as the easiest path to attain salvation. Because of this realization, year after year, Sita Rama Kalyanam & Ekadasi Bajans are conducted with devotion and joy! This Bajanai Matam also perpetuates the memory of the two
Umayalpuram Brothers & also honor the other great teachers of Carnatic Music like, Brahmasri.Sami Bhagavathar, Umayalpuram Swaminatha Iyer & other Great teachers of Laya such as Umayalpuram Viswanatha Iyer, Kothandarama Iyer etc. This village takes pride in having two Umayalpuram Vidwans who had been honored with, “Sangeetha Kalanidhiâ€
