Shruthi Subramaniam: Vocal
Srividya R.S. Iyer: Violin
R. Ramkumar: Mrudangam
As I played the concert at 6.30pm, I went in advance, entering the hall from back stage, not letting ram be aware of my presence [pre-sense?].
The niraval in bEgada(main) was happening I am so happy that ram played well in his debut in Chennai. He nicely presented some chathusra patterns and switched on to kaNda gathi through a kOrvai and played the kaNdam varieties and kOrvais with confidence and spirit. He performed some interesting podi sollus on the way to the climax and to everyone one’s surprise he played the famous composition of shrI UKS sir, a dhwi kAla mOra and kOrvai in thisra gathi. He presented his part with the school identity and I was so glad in hearing him from ‘behind the screen!’
wishes to all the three to reach greater heights!

The flute recital of Rasika Chandrasekar (New Jersey), with Pudukkottai Ambikaprasad and me went well. Rasika is a disciple of Bhavani Prakash and Smt. Suguna Purushothaman. Her playing was nice with emphasis on sAhithyam and bhAvam without unwanted brugAs. Vellore shrI Ramabadran mama spoke a few words about her.

I congratulate Jaya akka, daughter of shrI SVK mama, who continues the greatest job of identifying and providing opportunities to young talents.
