As always Malladi Bro's gave overall a very nice/energetic concert with lot of Bhakthi/bhava.
What i always liked in their music is their team work,should be commended.
They Started of with a kAnada varnam which was a nice "starter" and moved on to the Bhairavi piece.
For the first time in Gayana Samaja I saw artists having trouble with sound system,in between Bhairavi krithi there was "mixing" issues and i thought their warm-up flow was lost(opinions may differ).
The Bro's then had a nice Kannada alapana and Deekshithar's wonderful krithi was rendered in leisure pace. A brisk Devagandhari followed.Then came the best part of the Concert, Ramapriya rendition,Bros were at ease with this one.The Alapana,Neraval and Swaras were really great for this one and Thyagaraja krithi was safe in their hands.The elder one did the Alapana.Next an Anandabhairavi krithi of Veena Seshanna was rendered (to pay repect to him) and
R Venugopal's Malavi krithi (Voleti special?) set the stage for the Main.
Main Item was Kamboji and the Alapana was done by the younger brother and it was indeed nice.I thought H.K Venkatram's reply was good in this.What i felt was that they couldn't give full justice to it as they were rushing a bit.(may be because the organizer had earlier announced that the concert will be up to 9 p.m).The Neraval and Swaras were very short affair.The Thani from Arjun kumar and Amrut was very good.I thought overall in the concert Arjunkumar and Amrut played well.
During the Post main item Bro's announced that they will sing a Krithi of Amaranarayana (15th Century composer?) and that next month in Gayana Samaja there will be a book (or CD?) release of the krithis of Amaranarayana,tuned by their great Guru Nedunuri Garu.
The thillana i suppose is Veena Seshanna's and they wrapped up the concert around 9.30 P.M,finally a good concert (but the last time when i Heard them during Ramanavami series they were better)
