Hi all,

In an effort to systematize the information available in Wikipedia on various ragas in the Melakartha system, I have taken up the task of filling out the Wikipedia pages of several important Melakartha ragas as mentioned on the following page:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melakarta

I request you all to contribute. Click on the links marked red (if they're red, it means the page doesn't exist). Once the editor opens up, please add information into the page (please register at Wikipedia in order to keep track of your edits, otherwise it can be hard to keep track of your edits and contributions).

I hope the little effort we put into each page will mean the beginning of the wiki pages on the Wikipedia. These are the typical headings under which I enter information in each new page:

1. General information about what the article is about. In this case we'd have to indicate that each is a raga in the Melakartha system. Also describe how the raga is used and what the general qualities of the raga are.

2. Structure and Lakshana, Describe the aarohana and avarohana and subsequently include information about gamakas if you're qualified or if reliable information is available

3, Popular compositions in the raga known to you. There are many repositories of knowledge about compositions, the most well-known resource is karnatik.com.

4. Footer information such as the categories that the page should fall into, carnatic music stub, etc.

Please suggest further additions or changes to this scheme. Let me know whether this is a good idea. I hope those of you who are enthusiastic about this topic may help contribute to this knowledge base on carnatic ragas.
