Maharajapuram Santhanam Foundation-Award Function on 22-8-20

Dear Members

With the blessings of my Parents, Gurus and my Family and friends/well wishers I have been honoured with "Meritorius Award for Excellence" by Maharajapuram Santhanam Foundation.

The function will be held on 22nd August 2008 At OBUL Reddy Hall (Vaani Mahal T Nagar)

One more important information : Apart from Asthana Vidwan Title from Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham and Nityananda Laya Ratna title given by Paramahamsa Nityananda Swamiji of Dyanapeetham this is the first ever award i am getting from an organisation in chennai.

Dear Members
The function went off very well with all your well wishes and blessings.

All the speakers spoke extremely high about all the artistes and the function was also well organised without wasting much time.

We were also blessed by the presence of Maestro Lalgudi Shri Jayaraman and Shri T.V.Gopalakrishnan presented a shawl for all the artistes. Lalgudi GJR.Krishnan, Shri.T.V.Vasan, Tiruvarur Vaidhyanathan, Adambakkam Shankar, Kumbakonam Saravanan, Danseuse Swarnamalya were among the dignitaries.

Earlier Smt.Vijayalakshmi Gave a scintillating and at the same time really melodious recital fitting for the occasion :

1. Thunai Purindarul - Adi - Varamu-P Sivan
2. Manasuloni-Rupakam-Malayamarudam-Thyagaraja
3. Innudaya Bharathe-Khanda Chaapu-Kalyana Vasantham
4. Maayamma-Adi-Ahiri-Shyama Sastri
5. Kamalambam Bhajare-Adi-Kalyani-Dikshitar
6. Enna Solli Azhaithal-Adi-Kaanada

Tiruppunithura Radhakrishnan played extremely well.

Aridwaramangalam K.Palanivel also spoke very nicely and he was given an award, citation, gold medal and a purse.

Thanks for all my friends who were present for the function and who couldnt be present but wished me though their heart and soul.

Awards richly deserved !!!!!! My hearty congratulations to Smt. Vijayalakshmi, Shri. J Balaji and Shri. Radhakrishnan. Thanks Balaji, for the detailed report, I had to miss the function due to a concert engagement.

To add something more about my friend Balaji, whom I affectionately call JB. He is really a "Jaybee", active for 18 hrs a day, furthering the cause of Music, reinventing himself as an artiste everytime he goes on stage. His playing has the deft sarvalaghu touches of the Palani school of music which I have absolutely relished on the platform, concerting with him. I can write much more on his excellent vaasippu. Congrats once again, JB, I pray that all the accolades come your way soon .
