Hi,
Anybody is planning to post a review or list of Sanjay songs sung in SGBS yesterday. Waiting to know
if he sang an RTP. I heard the following and others I donot remember. I liked the concert as it had a list
of all new songs for me and it is full of surprises.
Samodham Chinthayami - Suddha Dhanyasi(RNS)
Ardha Naareesvaram - Kumuda Kriya (RS)
idathu padam thooki ninru adum - kamboji (RST)
I had to leave early as the place is new and didnot know the facilities to get back.
I definitely missed Saketaraman yesterday, didnot know about the change of TNS plans.
My few comments on the new venue. Though it is new , it is designed in the same line of Odukathur mutt.
Poor facilities for keeping shoes. My new shoes got drenched in rain water. Good bathrooms.
I would have liked a canteen to sit and finish dinner like Chennai sabhas.
Sanjay started the concert with hardly 20 people. He probably questioned the organisers for this . Towards the
middle of the concert , it got full though but not the usual Sanjay crowd. Not sure whether it is rain or new venue
or reachability to this place. I saw the usual faces in spite of all these. But the hall is pretty good in acoustics
though except from the left side , one can hear the sound of rain which is a disturbance to the artist.
Why it is not covered.
I am sure RTP was there. I saw Sanjay having few words (!) with organiser for not to have the speech
after the main item. I think Sanjay's core competency being RTP, the organisers should keep the speech
after the RTP. They can agree on this from now on.
Looking forward to someone to write a detailed review of the concert

Sanjay - Vocal
Varadarajan - Violin
Neyveli Venkatesh - Mridangam
Rajasekar - Morsing
???
dEhi Tava padha Bhakthi - Sahana - T (R)
Samodham Chinthayami - Suddha Dhanyasi(RNS) - ST
Ardha Naareesvaram - Kumuda Kriya (RS) - MD
ADum deivam nI - kamboji (RST) - Sivan
nAgagAndhArI rAganutE - MD
RTP Saaveri - Ragamalika: Atana, ?, Begada, Hindolam, SudhaSaaveri, ? (? - do not remember)
Pallavi: varattum, Patharathu iru maname - just to pacify the organizer I suppose
Idhu Thaano Thillaisthalam - behag - GB
nijagadasa - SIndhuBhairavi - Jayadeva
Mangalam
I reached late for Sahana
RTP was Grand. Overall a great concert
I went by auto just to check the accessibility of the venue. The auto stopped in the middle, and I need to walk a km,
vying for a place with oncoming traffic.
There was a huge traffic jam as the road had nothing but pot holes and the rain made it worser.
After the concert there is no way you can get an auto or taxi, as you have to walk nearly a km.
Even for me staying in indiranagar took a long time to reach back home.
I can see the plight of others reaching the place in time.

Oh thats bad. Any idea if they are planning to make this a permanent venue for the concerts from this year?! They are not going to have it in Odakathur mutt at all? That place was so accessible!ranjanimalavi wrote:Even for me staying in indiranagar took a long time to reach back home.

Hi Vanamali,
It is not as bad as it is mentioned. In fact it is better for people going by buses compared to
the previous venue. This place is next to a bus stand. The bus frequency is not very bad compared to
blore standard. You take a bus (311,313,315, and somemore) and come to
Baiyappanhalli (NGEF), which is the next stop from the venue on old madras road
and you have buses in all directions. Blore bus protocol
is either you take two buses to reach your place or walk a km and then a bus ride or a busride and then
walk a km. In that sense this is better than the previous venue. The status of roads are bad and it should
improve. Remember the nearest residential area to the Baiappanahalli metro(!) station is Unnati (Sadanandanagar).
But if one is planning on bus travel, you have to quit the concert hall by 8.30pm.
In odukathur mutt, the nearest bus stop from where you can get buses to all directions is
Taj residency or shivajinagar which is one km away. I never could get an auto from odukathur mutt to my
place which is also near Indranagar. Definitely, for east and south side bangaloreans , this new venue
is still better than going to samrajpet for Gayana samaj, fort high school or Jayanagar (spring festival)
or Chowdaiah hall in malleswaram, I guess rain and poor roads are making this place temporarily
inaccessiable.

Getting to concert halls is like playing the hurdles these days. Add the woes of a rainy day to it! This is where the organizers can help by providing a shuttle facility to the nearest auto vailability spot (bus stand?)--for a fee, of course.
Considering the fact that it is a new venue (the unknown factor) and the rains (the traffic too, of course) made it more daunting--rasikAs still braved it!
In Bengaluru (and Chennai too), avid rasikAs reluctantly leave a concert hall ('no autos after a certain hour' daunts them). Yet, braving rains and potholes, they do come to listen to good music.
It has come to this that but for a series of concerts in their own immediate area, many concerts are sadly missed by rasikAs. Even in one's own vicinity, the sabha may not be in a spot where autos circulate. Since women among rasikAs outnumber men, the auto question becomes more relevant. If they stayed on till the end, they need to walk in search of an auto at that late hour. That is why a shuttle to the nearest auto availability spot is not a bad idea--even if it means a few trips. The women would happily wait for a few minutes and gladly pay for the convenience...
That Anandabhairavi 'rAma nAma pAyasakE' would have been special. I don't think I have heard it in AB before...

One of the suggestion is to tag along with other rasikas.. There would be many who would have come in their own transportation and would be willing to help others , till the nearest 3-wheeler junction or bus stop.
This would be a huge task because most of the members in this forum staying in Bangalore, do not know each other. I am willing to do the chauffer role, whenever possible.

I was not stating something to discourage people from coming to the venue.
But the state of the roads that day is bad and the place is definitely remote compared to odukatthur mutt,
which is close to commercial street and shivaji nagar.
Getting an auto from odukatthur mutt will take far less time, but not from unnati centre.
Luckily there were lots of people returning from work late because of rain,
otherwise you have to think twice before coming if want to stay till the end of the concert.

Sure..... "Blore forumites" , It is a good idea. I am not a student of CM ( no formal education) and my fundamentals of CM are not there. Hope I can find a place in this meeting.
On a different note, Vanthematharam was very apt for the concert , the day close to Aug 15. Not only that, The reethigowlai varnam also
was a a great surprise for me (never heard before) and I am sure it was sounding seasonal after hearing the hit song "kangal irandl" from subramaniapuram movie . I was very happy to listen to that varnam.

I am also voting for a Bengaluru Rasika get together!
I think i am kind of happy about the new venue as it happens to be closer for me than the previous one,and I feel
accessibility issues should improve with completion of the parallel road (the one which is parallel to Railway track too).
Regarding Sanjay's kutcheri it was definitely a good one,I felt. One could see that he was definitely enjoying during the Pallavi rendition and at the end of the Pallavi he called Mr Ramesh (the organizer,Varattum Manamae.....
) to give the Speech. The Kedaram piece was sung on the occasion of Independence day.
The accompaniments were good, especially the "thani avarthanam" between Neyveli Venkatesh and Rajesekhar was very good. Vardarajan is always at his best when accompanying Sanjay, overall a good concert.
I was a bit disappointed that he didn't sing Neraval for the Kamboji krithi, which was a new one for me.
But this time the Pallavi was an elaborate affair. This shows that at the end Sanjay never disappoints!
