Vid U Shrinivas - Mandolin'
Vid H.K.Venkararam - violin
Vid V Praveen - mridangam
Vid G Guruprasanna - kanjira

1. Nalinakanti - varnam??
2. charanu siddhivinayaka - sowrashtram - mishra chapu - PD
3. Pavanathmaja - naatai - kanda chapu - MD (swara @ pallavi line)
4. chani todi - harikambodhi - adi - T (raga outline, swara @ chani todi)
5. palayamam brahadeeshwari - todi - rupakam - MD (alapana)
6. raghuvamsa sudha - kadanakutuhalam - adi - PSI
7. tera tiyaka rada - gowlipandu - adi - T

......

I entered when nalinakanti piece was going on, i assume probably it was a varnam. The hall was full to my surprise, and obviously srinivas was playing to the gallery. Few rare songs in naatai and todi, but he announced the songs, raga etc before start of the piece. To my disappointment, todi was very brief, for about 5 to 7 minutes. Kadanakutuhalam was audience request, once he announced the song, audience started clapping!!!!!! He started the song from anu pallavi and played the chittaswaram in tri kalam.

I left after tera tiyaka rada.

s_hari-The nalinakAnthi varnam is by Lalgudi Jayaraman.

8. madhyamAvathi- vEnkatEsha ninu

madhyamAvathi was the main item. It was full of melody. No birkas in raga alApana. After such a detalied raga elaboration- pAlinchu kAmakshi of Shyama Shastri would have been the correct selection.
The swaras for the song was quite impresssive with unsual swara patterns & appropriate birkas.

Vid Praveen played excellently well throughout the concert and it must be mentioned that it's not at all easy to accompany an artist of the calibre of Mandoloin Srinivas. The thani was equally impressive.
9. jagadOdHarana- Puranadara Dasa-Adi
10. Sai Bhajan
11. ?
12. ?

I also felt he should have played Thodi more elaboralely.
Anyway, His concert will always be a success due to his mastership & his skillful intelligent playing.

Manjunath,
You say that he played madhyamAvati melodiously. venkaTESA ninnu is just as melodious a song. Not many sing it these days. Listening to KVN sing it endeared me to this song. Is it because the emotive words were missing that you felt that way?

arasi- True, this song is not as popular as pAlinchu (SS) or rAma kathA sudha(T) or nAdhu pai(T) or dhaRmasamvardhanI (MD) or karpagamE(Papanasham Sivan). Probably the mentioned songs were sung by Starwarts and they became popular and continues to be appealing. Since, you have heard KVN singing this- I can visualise- it must have been not only endearing but also ecstatic.
I also would love to listen this song sung by KVN, rasikas can u please help in providing the link, if available ?

Venkatesa ... refreshingly different. Good selection. My view is Popular songs , one can hear always in CDs.
Raghuvamsa sudha ...He always plays this differently. Today too, it was different.
Chani Todi... It had glimpses of DKP school renditions.
RTP...Missing again. I was thinking that he will do like last years (shunmugapriya RTP...?).

For those who like to travel by buses, a bus at 8.20pm seems to be regular on occassions I have waited (twice).
This bus goes to KR market. It quickly reaches OM road through NGEF. So you are OM road at 8.40 not a bad time
to catch a bus for final destination , as per Blore standard.

With all said & done - No song can beat " pAlinchu kAmakshi of SS in madhyamAvathi". With it's lyrical beauty & chiTaswarams with sahithyam is too unique. What a grand composition !!!
Similarly No song can beat "endarO mahAnu bhavulu" in sri ragam.
