The Music Academy awards
The Executive Committee of the Music Academy, at its meeting held on August 17 has decided to confer the following awards at the 82nd annual conference of the Music Academy to be held from December 15 to January 1:
The title, Sangita Kala Acharya, will be conferred on Vidwan Mavelikkara K. Velukutty Nair and Guru Sarada Hoffman.
Vidwan Annavarapu Ramaswamy and vidwan Palai C.K. Ramachandran will receive the TTK Awards for Excellence.
Dr. S.A.K. Durga will be conferred the Musicologist award.
The awards will be conferred at the Sadas on January 1, 2009.
The Academy had earlier announced that the Sangita Kalanidhi award will be bestowed on clarionet maestro A.K.C. Natarajan.
