Thanks Hari for the list. Only 2 compositions after Tani avartanam!! I had to leave immediately after the tani avartanam. So I didn't miss much.
Yes. The concert was High on octaves. I have never heard any other artiste in Carnatic Music (recordings or live) who can sing in three and a half octaves. More than that TMK seems to sing with ease. The only other artistes I have heard are Sri Jesudas and Dr M Balamuralikrishna (and that too only 3 octaves). In Hindusatni I have heard Parveen Sultana and Pt Jasraj sing in 3 octaves as well. I am sure TMK can sing 4 octaves. While this type of attempt is good once in a while, I hope TMK doesn't overdo this and spoil his voice.
Here is what I meant by three and a half octaves (In case it is confusing)...(I have written in the avarohanam in Saveri)..
MPDS...1)SRMPDS... 2)SRMPDS..3)SRMPDS...R The 2nd one is the regular octave that everyone sings.
TMK sang Sri ragam well but I thought Saveri Ragam was superb. Somehow the connection of phrases were not very spontaneous in Sri. But his Saveri ragam was truly outstanding and awesome....That according to me was the one which really had High Octaves, High Octane and High Voltage......
The lower speed swaram by TMK in Saveri was awesome. Post the reply from the violinist in the same speed, TMK left it to Sri Raja Rao sir for Tani avartanam.
TMK's stage presence needs a special mention here. Always energetic and constantly encouraging the co-artistes. It is a very nice experience to watch his live concerts.
HK Venkataraman's replies of both Sri and Saveri ragams were excellent and matched the poised mood that TMK had set in for those ragams. I liked his following during the nereval and swaram in Durusuga. Sri Raja Rao sir was as usual exuberant and very involved while following the compositions. He was Tani Avartanam by him and Giridhar was very good.
He encouraged Giridhar a lot on stage. Good to see seniors encouraging their junior partners on stage. The volume of Mridangam was however little loud. But with TMK's powerful voice the high volume was not sounding very jarring.
Sri Raja Rao sir earlier gave an interesting lecdem about Pazhani Subramanya Pillai style of playing. It was very educative.
Oh!! before I close, one amusing thing I need to share. When the stage screen was opened, I was surprised to see many people on stage..10 to be precise !!!!!!!!!!. (TMK, Venkatraman, Raja Rao sir, Giridhar, Sudheendra ( Raja Rao sir's Disciple), 2 on tanpura including G Ravikiran and 3 other students of TMK just sitting on stage.

V_Shesha "I have never heard any other artiste in Carnatic Music (recordings or live") Several vocalists in the past were capable of singing in three+ octaves. Manakkal Rangarajan, Madurai Somasundaram comes to my mind. Others who could but refrained perhaps, were CVB, MSI and even ARI. GNB and MMI would sing albiet occasionally.
