Prasanna Vidyaganapti trust has been organisng music fest 8th cross , Vontikoppal, Mysore for couple of weeks startiung Ganesha Chaurthi every year since the past 40 odd years. More info can be obtained from http://8thcrossganesha.org

The day before, Chtraveena Maestro Ravikiran gave a mrsmerising performance here..

What a treat . One of the best concerts Ive ever attended. Ive not heard anything less than extraordinary from this man. Hearing Ravikiran is like watching Roger Federer in full form.Its hard to believe the amount of 'jeeva' he infuses into each pluck of the instrument.
I last heard Ravikiran around 6 yrs back, when the gotuvadya that he used resembled the veena in that it had two 'heads' and looked 'traditional' but the one he uses now looks more like a guitar.

Nayaki was sublime.Suruti was superlative, probably the best Ive heard.So special it was that one couldnt help feeling that only TNK could have done justice to it on the violin. I'll try to post suruti alapana sometime soon.
KV Prasad was fantastic on the mridanga. Subbulakshmi's brilliance was masked by the sheer genius of Ravikiran.And Well,there is no shame in being second to Ravikiran.
The evening started with Ravikiran leading the "goshti gaayana" of Saptaratnakritis of uthakadu Venakata Kavi.
