Sri. VK RAMAN sir, I enjoyed your Ashtapadi "anila tarala" in rag Viswapriya. This rag appears to be having the resemblence of Subhapanthuvarali. Is it a janya of 45 mela? Please give details of this raga, its Aroh & Avroh., I happened to hear the song from the following link posted in acidplanet.com.

Thanks in advance.
Other rasikas are also most welcome to give more details of this rare raga.

I very much doubt that it can be janya of 54th Mela Rag Viswambari, for the reason that Shad sruthi Daivatham (as in mela 54) do not sound at all in the rag Viswapriya. Rag Viswapriya can be mostly the janya of 45th Mela. In the arohana Kakala nishadam seems to be omitted and in the avrohana all the 7 swaras of mela 45 sounds in the song. This raga also resembles rag Multani of Hindustani Music at several places.
Please discuss. Thank you.

sounds like a shuddha madhyamam mela. Both suddha dhaivatam and nishaadam appeart obe present..
It appears to be a derivative of gaayakapriya (meLa 13)...

Maharajapuram Sri. Santhanam had sung this same Ashtapadi in rag Viswapriya. The song is sung in Madhyamashruti, and the following notes appear. S R1 G3 M2 P D1 N3 which are same as notes of 51st Mela Kamavardhini. So can this raga a janya of 51st mela? Panchamam seems to be a varjya swara in Arohanam, and all the 7 notes appear in the Avarohanam. Can some one help with more accuracy to this raga?
