A TRIBUTE TO THE DIVINE SPARK IN ALL COMPOSERS

This is an experiment, that I thought I would try out with this group:
I have always been in awe of the divinity that seems to enable some composers to come up with great lyrics for use in the krithi-bound practice of CM. Here is an iMIX on shakthI, with bits and pieces from 5 different thamizh compositions (with minor modifications): Can you identify the original composers/composition?
Here goes:
mAthA parAshakthI, vaiyam ellAm nI niraindhai
AdhAram unnai allAl yAr yemakku pArinilE?
shankaran manam kavvazh mAliniyE, mOhana-
kalyANiyE, kapAli kAdhal puriyum andha ullAsiyE, umA-
mahEshan manam maghizhndhavalE, mADHavanin sOdhariYE,
ponnAr mEniyan mEl anbu konda annamE,
unnaiyE nambI vandhEn annaiyE!
The bits are identifed by different fonts...

Ravi, interesting mix.
The phrase "ponnAr mEniyanE" is originally Sundaramurthy Nayanar's.
BTW, there is a work called "pAsurap-paDi rAmAyaNam" which is an important piece of ShriVaishnava literature. This is similar to your lines, with phrases taken from the verses of the 4000 divyaprabandhams, compiled to give the story of Ramayana. Compiled by PeriyavAchAn piLLai.

Saawariya,
Here you go: Corrections to the lyrics are based on a book of mahAkavi subramaNya bhArati's work that I have. This is classified as a navarAtri pAttu (song for navarAtri) praising the supreme energy that sustains the world - in the first caraNam, he invokes this power as the supreme energy, parASakti, and in the succeeding ones, she is summoned in her forms as kalaimagal/sarasvati, alaimagal/lakshmI, and malaimagal/pArvatI in that order.
caraNam 1
mAtA parAshakti vaiyam ellAm nI niraindAi AdhAram unnai allAl Aremakku pArinilE
EdAgilum vazhi nI sholvAi nI emaduyirE vEdAvin tAyE miga paNindu vAzhvOmE
Oh divine mother (mAtA), the embodiment of supreme energy (parASakti), you (nI) pervade (niraindAi) the entire (ellAm) universe (vaiyyam)! Is there anyone (yAr/Ar) other than (allAl) you (unai) who can serve as a support (AdhAram) for us (yemakku) in this world? Our (yamadu) precious life force (uyirE)! It is up to you (nI) to instruct (SolvAi) us on some (yEdAgilum) means (vazhi) to attain salvation. Oh mother (tAyE) of brahmA (vEdAvin), bless us, so that we may live our lives (vAzhvOmE) in abject/abundant (miga) devotion (paNindu) to you.
caraNam 2

kANuginra kATSiyAi kANbadellAm kATTuvadAi mAnuyarndu nirppAi malaraDiyE shUzhvOmE
As the dEvI sarasvatI (vANI), the goddess (deivam) of all skills/art-forms (kalai), she blesses us and enables and empowers us (udaviDuvAL) with incisive speech (vAkku). She wears pearls (muttu) of wisdom (arivu), that are as precious as (pOlE) beautiful (ANi) pearls (muttai), like a garland (mAlaiyinAL). Let us go around/circumambulate (SUzhvOmE) [1] the flower-like (malar) feet (aDi) of this dEvi who stands (nirppAL) tall (uyarndu) at the pinnacle of intellect (mAn) as both the vision (kATshiyAi) that we see/behold (kANuginra), as well as the one who shows us (kATTuvadAi) every thing we see (kANbadellAm).
caraNam 3

As the beautiful queen (ponnArasi), and the famed (pugazh) queen (arasi), she is the consort (dEvI) of vishNu (naraNanAr) whose lustrous complexion (mEni) is so beautiful (azhaguDaiyAL) that it rivals (pOl) shining (minnum) gems (navarattinam) [2]. In this form, this mother (annai avaL) of ours is the ever auspicious lakshmI (SrIdEvI) - so, let us seek (pugundu) refuge (SaraN) at her (tan) golden feet (iru poTrALE) and live our lives (vAzhvOmE).

As pArvatI, she (tAn) was born in the himAcal mountains (malaiyilE) and wed (mAlaiyiTTAL) lord Siva (Sankaranai). She is the power that keeps the fires (kanal) of the universe (ulaga) stoked (vaLarppAL) by blowing (Udi) at the furnace (ulaiyilE). She will elevate (nErE uyarttiDuvAL) our status (nilaiyil) in lives, so let us lead our lives (vAzhvOmE) on the surface (miSai) of this earth (dharaNi) by bearing (tAngi) her (avaL) feet (pAdam) atop our heads (talayilE).

rshankarji...thank you very much once again...
in fact i find this item very inspiring bcoz the divine mother is portraiyed as being in the form of the 3 goddesses saraswati laksmi and parvati...and the essence of the divine power is described beautifully in each stanza...
thanks once again!
although the tough part was finding the CD in India...now you have made it easy for me to choreograph this wonderful piece.
