Shri Vijay Siva - Vocal
Shri RK Shriramkumar - Violin
Shri Manoj Siva - Mrudangam

Date : Nov 1, 2008
Venue : Narada Gana Sabha Main Hall

1) Vanajakshi - Kalyani Adi Tala Varnam
2) Sitapathe - Khamas - NS
3) Parama Pavana - Purvikalyani - ANS
4) Shri Kalahasthisha - Huseni - A
5) Tappulanni - Bowli
6) Kaana Kan Kodi - Kambhoji - ANST
7) Panimathi - Ahiri Padam
8) A Ragamalika piece - Bharathiar song(?) - not sure of the words..
9) Thiruppugazh

It was a fine concert by Vijay Siva. Well balanced and planned, true to his style. The Huseni Krithi was the pick of the concert to me. Was rendered brilliantly. The main Kambhoji was good as well. The Swarams had a few clear glimpses of MMI. Ahiri is always one of my favourites and the Swathi Thirunal Padam was well sung emotively. Shriram Kumar was very good with his replies. Liked his Ragam versions. Shri Manoj Siva gave good support and played a fine Tani.

He was not in good health or must have been tired. Coughing and missing some lines for RKS to continue But it is nothing before his excellant rendtion of all the Kritis. Huseni is the pick as Sathej says. It is, according to me, a difficult raga for Alapana. You have the imminent danger of trespassing Bairavi or Mukhari. His Raga alapana and the response from by Sriram Kumar was excellant.

Agaramumagi - He rendered in Gowlai
Toondir- chencurutti, Sahana, Sama and Huseni.

A nice concert for a 5 PM Saturday slot.

Agaramumagi was in Jaganmohini if I remember right, not Gowlai. About Thoondir Puzhuvinai, I don't recollect..

Yes, Agaramumagi is usually sung in Jaganmohini by him, and other disciples of DKP/DKJ school.

it was an amazing concert. i personally enjoyed the khamAs, the pUrikalyANi, husEni, kAmbhOji and Ahiri and all else that i have not listed.

like a true Vijay Siva Concert, it was soul stirring and really morale boosting. I was in a bad mood when i came to the concert and the music made me the usual cheerful self..

great artistes. great songs. Great concert.

Exactly the same words I would have used to describe attending one of Sri Vijay Siva's concerts...

Vijay,
So nice that you could take in so much in one weekend. All such good concerts and thanks for your vivid accounts of them. Wish I had heard that khAmbOji of Vijay SIva. Hoping for many such concerts during the season.
