What are the four Kavis?

Asu Kavi (One who readily composes a poem when ordered by anyone to do so without any hesitation.)
Madhura Kavi (Composing sweet songs with suitable words, pregnant with meaning and most enjoyable by the introduction of several figures of speech.)
Vistara Kavi (If a poem is composed with the use of several meters called Kalivenpa etc in Tamil, in an elaborate manner, it is known as Vistara Kavi. Periya Tirumozhi, the 2 Tandaga poems, the 2 Madals belong to this category.)
Chitra Kavi (Tiruvezhukutirukkai belongs to this type of poetic composition. The Sanskrit rhetoricians have divided this Chitra Kavi in various ways: Chakra Banda, Padma Banda, Muraja Banda, Naga Banda, Ratha Banda.

Thanks, sramaswamy for complimenting me on my EdO nAlu kavi (a paltry few poems)!
I spoke to a tamizh prof friend of mine. Instead of repeating what information you have already gathered, I will add what else he said: ASu kavi was also something which was chanted for the longevity of the king. The first line was often initiated by the king or by another poet. citrakavi was letters filled into illustrations. Palindromes and other word play, like SivAji vAyilE jilEbi (jumbles)!

aasu kavi - a poet makes instant poetry based on a word/clue. A testing of poetry knowledge spontaneously.

In percussion parlance, I have heard the word usage of 'aas' as some pattern / format related with song presentation & the jatis connected. (this song is like that)

aasu kavi also those who make instant poetries when seeing vigraham (idol) and woving words related to that.

'Ashu' means quick, immediate, fast etc. Eg. the song 'swAminAtha, pripAlayaashu mAm'. 'Ashutosh' is an epithet of Lord Shiva meaning' one who is quickly(easily)pleased'.
